Annoying CTDs

Okay so i really like these games but recently M2TW has been giving me ctds. I do use mods and every mod, except Darthmod, has CTDed either in the game or when it first starts. I get the same error over and over again, "Medieval 2 Total War has experienced a fatal error and must shut down." whats wrong:hmmm:?

There are no other programs running,
the games are up to date,
what could be wrong?

OH! and i also get the same CTD when I play Britons campaign as wales and the cp has sallied forth...now there are gunpowder units in my army, and every previous battle had been fine...whats wrong, plz help me.

Okay so i gave up and began to unistall all the games and mods. With all unistalled i still had a SEGA folder. I began to delete all of the files, all where deleted expect the 'miles' folder. In the miles folder there are four things: mssdsp.flt, msseax.m3d, mssmp3.asi, msssoft.m3d. They wont delete, i get an error that says that they are right protected...i cant even rename them

Vista? Do you have administrative rights? If you ran the uninstaller and this is all that is left, reboot your computer and you should be able to delete them.

FYI, a lot of units are bugged and will cause crashes. Mods like Stainlees Steel add units for their mod, making that installation proprietary, and screw up any other mod working right short uninstall/reinstall routine to get rid of SS.
