All of these stupid threads overstating the evils of a country has done? I challenge you to find one country with a flawless reputation which has never in its entire history done something wrong , so , how about we all use some common sense and realize that by taking Britan and France out of the equation , history would change by such a large degree that it would be another people opressing. Great, the French aren't in Algeria anymore, now the Itallians are, guess what happens?

So besides the point of this thread being a put down on the recent rash of blind anti-national threads its a general putdown on blind nationalism , honestly , what is the point of saying my country is better then yours ? Because I garuntee you it , it isn't in all aspects!

I know, there arne't any perfect countries but it seems some people think there are, mainly those people that live in Britain or france and thereabouts and elsewhere.

Individual people can certainly have changed history for the worse. People such as Hitlere and Stalin come to mind.

But this too may not be so. Many would place Napoleon on such a list. Even if the short term efffects were horrible, much would be worse today without the contributions that he and his empire made. Were these contributions worth the price in death and misery? How about the opponants to Napoleon? Their actions contributed to the death and misery. As victors, they wrote the history.

I do not think the broad brush of country or the finer brush of individuals is appropriate.

I think it would be better to exclude tiny and worthless countries.

Sure some of these microstates have never done anything majorly bad, but they also have never done anything major at all.

Tuvalu has almost no natural resources, and its main form of income consists of foreign aid.
