Hi
I have installed text overhaul mod 1.4 (I copied data folder to the Stainless Steel folder) and after running the game, when I have choosed faction, game crush - loading screen is black and I must restart computer. I use Byg III mod and Faction Crown Mod. (Text 1.4 mod was isntalled last). What I do wrong?
Did you read the read-me in the Text Folder?
The file you download comes with optional compatibility files in-case you use certain mods like BGR III and FCM. So if you have those you need to use the correct optional files otherwise bad-things will happen.
There are full-instructions inside the read-me. The next version of Text Overhaul will have that file renamed to 'Installation Read-me.'
I had the same problem, just re-installed FCM, then Text Overhaul Mod, being very careful which files, and its fine.
Lovely work, Shaxx. I put this beauty in and now am actually spending time reading the various texts. Good job! +rep

Now it works fine. Thanks
Wow! Great mod!!! I love being "The Romans".
Thanks
I would really like to see in the future versions the fix of that _ (spaces) after some of the names and surnames, mostly arabic. It looks like "Abdullah_ Al-Fatimun_", and it's really annoying.
Btw, great mod, thanks for work

I have never noticed that but I will take a look and see what I can do.I would really like to see in the future versions the fix of that _ (spaces) after some of the names and surnames, mostly arabic. It looks like "Abdullah_ Al-Fatimun_", and it's really annoying.

Progress Update: 1.5 is readily on it's way.
A few things came up as they tend to do, but no worries as the project continues.
By the way, why not simply remove the family tree from Venice, Genoa, Templars, Novgorod, Ireland and HRE, and change the text content of the "Candidate for Adoption" and "A Hero of the Day" events to the appropriate one, like they did with teutons in vanilla?
Or you just work with the text, not the game itsfelf?
'If I am unrighteous, why does God not stop me?'
Because what the developers of the game tried to 'explain' with a Family Tree, was not a family tree at all. But, depending on the Nation, it was either a show of all the significant/influential members of the Oligarchy behind a Republic, or an Aristocracy/Nobility behind a Monarchy. Not just one family, but many... and also, for versatility's sake, it is worded correctly to make just as much sense to be a single-family as well.
I could take away their tree, sure, but why do it when I can just explain them having one better? As taking it away does effect the AI negatively in certain occasions, and for the Player it does offer an easier way of keeping track of who's who.
But you are also correct in that such a change is not a 'text' change, but a sm_faction file change. I have a bunch of changes that are not text oriented in my personal games, but I stick to text changes publicly both to let others with better expertise of those areas mod those aspects of the game, and also to keep the mod specialized. That is as an example: 'well I love the text additions and changes... but what the Hell, these buildings changes completely unbalance the game.'
Since I have significantly changed the building tech trees in my personal-game for Venice and the Romans to reflect their historically accurate culture and sophistication advantages around this time.
I also gave every city and castle no matter the size only one recruitment slot, to equally hinder player and AI, to make less equal more in terms of battles.
So 14 battles against 14 stacks encompassing three-hours of my precious life is turned into maybe 3 or 4 and a quarter of the time consumed. I have more fun in each individual battle and I can better fit the game into a hectic life-schedule.
This is not for everyone who might be looking for a challenge, but I look for a challenge as well, I hinder myself in other areas such as Restricted General's Camera view only, and comprising all my armies to be of a historical make. So, no army ever has more than 5% of it being elite units, and it never goes above 16 units for a stack, and multiple stacks are rarely, almost never used for defensive or offensive campaigns. In-addition to, no matter the cost of a defeat, never ever reloading the game because I lost, I made a mistake, my general died, etc etc.
These were just two examples, I have a lot of small changes that are just for me that I doubt others would appreciate being put into a Text Mod.
But 1.5 is shaping up and I have found a few other areas that should make a notable addition to realism and a better historical portrayal of certain aspects of the game. Stay tuned.

But what about kinghtly orders? Power in the Republic can certainly be held in the hands of a certain familia (or several of them), but the 'famlily business' in the Templars Order does look a bit strange. I understand that in 'non-bloodline' states the family tree is not quite a *family* tree, but still wives, children etc of the individual, shown in the 'tree of the influentuals', are confusing, escpecially if you're playing as Order Grandmaster.of the Oligarchy behind a Republic, or an Aristocracy/Nobility behind a Monarchy
Anyway, that is not a bit lethal to anybody, I'm sure that you have more importaint text issues to work over.
Can't wait to see the future releases, there are still some things in the text that need improvement. Most of them are not that important, but still I think it won't hurt to have them 'overhauled'. Keep up the good work!
'If I am unrighteous, why does God not stop me?'
I believe, as default in S.S. 6.1 the only 'Knightly Order' which features a family tree is the Order of Knights Templar, as if I recall correctly, the Teutons have a special 'Teuton' script for their leader progression and succession. But you can argue that this is simply a list of influentials within the Knightly Order, as most of them are nobles anyway, and are simply noting the 'house' of the Knight within the Order. His children, adopted and natural are groomed into his father's path.I understand that in 'non-bloodline' states the family tree is not quite a *family* tree, but still wives, children etc of the individual, shown in the 'tree of the influentuals', are confusing, escpecially if you're playing as Order Grandmaster.
The changes for them are really just coverage, as the mod does not cover whether or not a nation has a 'tree of something' but simply if they do, what it is called. I leave the choice of if they do largely up to the Player and other modders. Personally, in my own game, the Templars have no family tree and no princesses, as even with my changes it does make more sense.
This however is not really a Text change so I opted to keep it out. Having played other Mod-heavy games, I found great disdain for mods who changed thousands of little things but mastered none, most people would typically like or only agree with one part and would have no way to differentiate that part they like from all the other ones they may hate. So that is my main reasoning behind it. The Family Tree changes for each faction would be a relatively small change, but it does increase the chance of incompatibility issues with other mods, which was the second main reason for not distributing those changes publicly with my Text mod.
I will definitely consider the idea of adapting it and maybe a few other personal-game changes into the Text mod. But if you want to make the changes for yourself in the mean-time, in descr_sm_factions file in your S.S. Data folder, all you have to do is find the nation you want within and next to “has_family_tree” replace the yes or no with what you want and viola. The same goes for princesses.
Will do.Keep up the good work!
And about the texts for Candidate for Adoption and Hero of the Day? Are they in the strat.txt or where?Data folder, all you have to do is find the nation you want within and next to “has_family_tree” replace the yes or no with what you want and viola.

Hello! Just wondering, how does one change the quit confirmation text?
What I mean is, when I'm on the campaign map and I want to quit I goto the menu and click quit game. The game then asks if I'm sure if I want to quit. The typical way to ask confirmation is "Are you sure you want to quit?" or something similar. Mine, however, says "Are you quitting...don't wuss out now." I don't remember the "exact" line but that is close enough.
I'm not sure about others but I don't like being insulted every time I want to go to bed or eat lunch or simply had enough of playing SS. I would be eternally grateful to you if a solution can be made.
EDIT: Just so people know, unText Overhauled SS doesn't insult me. I only got this text change when I installed the text overhaul mod.
lol.
Its only messing with you dude. why are you even going to complain about something like that. when i saw it, it made me chuckle.
Always one their is![]()
