    Icon5 A Wintery Event

Ok, so I need help modding the campaign_script.txt to create a certain "end-turn" event at around turn #60. The event needs to have the following effects if possible.
    1. all factions declare war on eachother (this I have covered already)
    2. trade and farming income drops by 80%
    3. (and the toughy) the entire campaign map needs to be covered in snow (i.e. a perpetual winter with no breaks for seasonal summers)
The first one I know I can do and I think the second one is doable because Ive seen similer events in mods like DLV. However, it is the third effect that I am having trouble with. Is it possible to have an alternate climate map that the campaign_script.txt can switch to with an event? Or maybe someone can think of a better way?

Anyways, I am open to suggestions and any tips!

    Cheers

however you decide to have these other 2 events firing aorund turn 60 simply set a counter when the those 2 have fired true. when this new counter equals 1 have a monitor that simply keeps track of this counter. When (or while) it equals 1 then every turn end will result in the campaign map keeping winter the season. Your characters will age every year tho.

there is a script floating around that allows the season to be changed, i believe it is a script written by alpaca. you could with permission i guess alter that script to meet your needs. But as i said, your characters will age every turn if every turn is winter so you may want your mod designed around a 1TPY campaign.

Although that won't cover the whole map in snow, that would have to be modified when you create your mods map so that every where gets snow during winter months...

cool, thanks for the tip. Ill PM Alpaca and ask permission.

So you are saying that with 1tpy, every turn would be summer until the event firing? After which, it would be winter? If this is true, that is great news!

    Cheers

This is the little ice age event a few people have mentioned? I have seen it discussed in a few places. In my opinion the negatives outweigh the positives.

You are locked into only a few climates for the entire map. This will make your map look bad in the summer, which is going to be most of your gameplay time. Tropical and desert climates wont be able to be used.

The good news is that climates in kingdoms can be edited, but not in M2TW, but the things you can edit are limited.

You wont be able to have normal winters in part of the map and total winter on the rest of it. Its an all or nothing situation. I looked at this once by checking into the seasons, currently there are only two: summer and winter. If you could add a 3rd or 4th season you could then alter one of the climates to have snow in the extra season and script the game to only show summer/winter by a simple script, then set it to the 3rd season by script also. Buit the seasons seem to be hardcoded.
