    Matter of taste, I believe.
I'm loving my Kievan Rus, they have a great selection of units. But I'm sure others are lovely as well.

Hungary. They are Catholic, which gives them the benefit of being able to launch Crusades. This is great since all of it's neighbors to the south and east are non-Catholic, which means crusades are easily mounted and will usually be the first to get to their destination, assuming the target is Byzantine or in the Holy Lands. And, with the Byzantine lands so close, and so very vulnerable, the potential for building a large empire early on is very great. To add to all of this, with so many non-Catholic lands around, there will be lots of opportunities for priests to gain high piety ratings and possibly become cardinals, which will give you considerable influence over the Papacy. With their formidable horse archers and strong strategic position, they've become one of my favorites in the past few months. I used to play as western European factions mostly, and got bored. Time to end this rambling post. Ciao.

Dude Hungary is not slavic! Most of the hungarians would take this like a insult. after all of history, but we love the polish

The Nobel Lord: This whit that Hungarians are finno-ugric pepole is not true any more and this was a Austrian study witch never was cleard by the Hungarians, sure in my mother and father days they learnd that magyars where finno-ugric but now days when there is more pepole trying to solve the history and pepeols orgin they are saying Hungarians are Turkic pepole, first toime i heard it i didint like it, it came from a Turkish dude, first i think that are they turks so despret to get in to EU that they need to change Hungarian history and say we are realeted, after that i did some reading and we hade man thing in comen so mabey we are realeted, but they are many tradition differences thats prove that we are not, after all we have been hunted by turkic tribes when the magyars left the stepps and setteld in todays Hungary. but who know in 20 years they will say Hungarians are one of a kind of pepole.

i Think Novgorod is the best i like there Milta units that they can build them very fast haveing both spear and archer milta on level 2 bulding.

how come that slavic faction have cooler roster the hungary

What I know from my latest info that Magyars are Iranno speaking or related people, for example much earlier Sarmatians Iranno speaking people were unlike Huns (Tatar most probably).

Most of all I played as Novgorod for theyve got greatly armoured Dvor cav and Tsar gard (and looking great). If looking for the easiest slavic faction I would choose Poland - one of the strongest cavalry from the begining until late (first nobles than Polish guard), SS gives them even able infantry and pavise crossbows so what else they should need. Btw Hungarians arent Slavs at all, though Kingdom of Hungary had more Slavs than Hungarians. (Being a Slovak so living in area once called "Upper Hungary" I had to explain that.)

    Hungary isn't slavic.

My preference is for Novgorod for personal and asthetic reasons, but I'd say that they are all pretty decent, with Poland perhaps having an advantage due to their killer cav.

Good news then, I believe that Hungary had a unit called "Transylvanian Peasants" or something similar...

Hmm I wonder how I could have guess that...

I havn't tried the slavic nations yet, although I like the look of Lithuania and Kievan Rus's units. I just don't like their starting positions.

    Hi,

    :hmmm:....................
I dont think that Hungary, Lithuania, and Transilvania are Slavic nations.
Hungarians are finno-ugric, Lithuanians are Balt people and Transilvanians could the mixture of: Hungarians, Dacians, Huns, Romans, Cumans and Pechengs.
Only Kievan Rus and Novgorod are Slavic nations.

    Mine favorite is definitely Novgorod.

Not saying they will do better, just add another Slavic faction to the mix.

The Balkans themselves are so underrepresented in SS and MTW2.

I think (and probably not alone) that Bulgarian Kingdom (Empire) would be the most worthy faction to add (Eastern cav. and Slavic inf. shame there is no earlier era with Great Moravia my home).
