Default Like a knife in my ear.

Not sure whetever to post this here, but here goes nothing.

From time to time, it may vary. every 5 seconds to every half hour, I get a knifelike pain in my left ear. I'm not ready for it, and wham, it's almost cold, piercing pain just striking through my ear-drum, or somewhere like that. I shall visit a dotor, but I would like to know if any of you have/had anything like this? Do you know what it is?

Well, I would say either a rogue ear infection, or you damaged one of the small bones in the ear canal. Have you been listening to really loud music lately, or experienced a hugely loud sound?

Not that I can recall, no. But I shall visit a doctor and see what this is.

Off course you should pay a visit!
Even if it is not something important,it is better to know and be cured!!!

And if it is something important, chances of healing are always higher if you take care of it in an earlier state. Being deaf is not so bad as being blind, but not a thing you would wish to be.

    Where in your ear?

    Two possible cases:

    1.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otitis_externa
    2.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otitis_media

I had the first one last week, it's a real female dog, but it is easily treated with direct application of antibiotics (drops) and a steroid anti-inflammatory agent.

Read carefully the symptoms in the links and definitely visit a specialist.

If you need anything, ask; I became an expert after 4 days of excruciating pain.

I've suffered from ear problems my life. A hole in my right ear drum with about a dozen surgeries to fix it, naw.

Now I can't really hear out of my right ear. I've lost my awesome lifeguard job because of a particularly bad infection that messed with the pressure of my head now. I can barely clear about 8 ft under. Sucks when the pool is 20 ft.

Get it checked out ASAP. Once your hearing is gone, you can't get it back.

I've experienced that before from firing certain weapons without earplugs or just one earplug (you should always wear two). It went away, but I still get high pitched whining every now and then.

I would go to the doc and get some help, as I know a lot of half-deaf and nearly deaf people that got that way from various booms and crack-cracks etc.

Let us know once you get back from the Doc's I'm really curious about this.
