you need specific archers that have that ability. So jannissary archers or english lowbowmen and others. To do so you just need to press the Special Action button in your console, or J, for me anyway.

2: no not in m2.

3: the patches help the game immensely, but NOT in terms of lag. Although there is a low texture pack you can download in the downloads section iirc.

4: no idea.

Only some archers can do this, all English long bowman can, along with Janissary archers for the turks (I think)

No, that is why is says "Dismounted" before alot of the Infantry names, although this function would be very nice!

No, get a better computer

Fight with less units on the battlefield (Go to options to change this)

if the archer has that ability,then during the deployment phase only, not during battles. once you plant them, they cannot move

no. they are completely separate units and a complete waste of space

get the patches. M2TW 1.0 is total crap. the patch improvesunit balance and gameplay to a certain extent, but not performance. if performance is bad, try lower settings or better yet, get a new graphics card if possible. also, its always helps to just run the game by itself with no other programs running if you are doing that.

you mentioned it was only city and castle battles that slowed you down, right? try lowering the building detail

You may also want to lower the effects detail, since I hear that the smoke from chimneys has caused problem for a number of people.

One of the first patches will actually help reduce the lag in Siege Battles.

If you folks would remember the good old days where destroying a ram when a ladder was on your walls caused the ENTIRE enemy army to swarm onto it...caused immense pathfinding problems, and crippling lag.

So yeah, if that was what your problem was, downloading the patches will fix it.
