i saw a preview and it looks really good, unfortunately its a foreign film and it wont get the publicity it needs to be successful.
When I saw the trailer I was expecting like, yay, Large battles, and horses, and bows, and slaughter and stuff like that. Nicht.
The movie was horrible. I don't want to tell you how the story is, you will have a good sleep all by yourself.

1) The final battle was awesome.
2) This is like the 3d or 4th thread about this film.

In contrast to the efforts of tiny Israel to make contributions to the world so as to better mankind, one has to ask what have those who have strived to eliminate Israel from the face of the earth done other than to create hate and bloodshed.
Yeah, I noticed it. And that was the whole point of my reply.
You see, most people hated "Alexander," but I was in the small minority of people who enjoyed it. Thus, I was taking the minority-stance in saying that I might actually enjoy "Mongol" since I also enjoyed "Alexander" (which most people denounced).
Anyway, glad you also liked "Alexander."

I also liked Alexander, especially the final cut version. (i think it was nearly 4 hours) But more depth is given to other characters.
I have seen the mongol already. I enjoyed it although there are a few historical accuracies. As others mention the inaccuracies of the clip of the battle alone.
Historically epic movies have a tough time with basically everybody. I speculate the normal theater going viewers would not enjoy such films and "history fanatics" cite historical inaccuracies. Producers and filmmakers try to make the movie appealing to the overall public but "history fanatics" dwell on historical inaccuracies. Making the success of a historically epic film doom from the start.
Edit: I remember reading somewhere ( i forgot where) that this is the first film of a trilogy. The first film ended with Temujin attaining power over all the Mongolian tribes.

large horse battles is indeed what they showed in the trailer...
and thats something I've seen done in few movies, except old asian ones which failed to capture the epic feeling, most likely due to technology limits
looks really good, LotR style epic battles
Hammer & Sickle - Karacharovo
And I drank it strait down.
I'll definitely dish out ten bucks or so to see it. Could be like Conan the Barbarian but with even more mongols and cool horse battles.

It's more about Genghis Khan himself than about his fights and/or conquests. So if you prefer such types of movies and aren't simply expecting "large battles and lots of blood" through the whole of it, you might like it.
somehow those mangudai (?) reminds me of 300.

Seriously. Click it. Its the only overhaul mod that's overhauling enough to bring out NEW clans

Thank god it will be released in my city, NYC. And it does remind me of 300
Always though that its silly because foreign films have done very well in the US in the past.i saw a preview and it looks really good, unfortunately its a foreign film and it wont get the publicity it needs to be successful.

I think most people were expecting "Gladiator." In any case, I hope "Mongol" comes to DVD in the near future so that I can rate the movie for myself![]()

I enjoyed Alexander very much, and I look very much forward to Mongol.
Whether or not large scale battles are a major aspect of the movie, doesn't make or break the movie for me. But I can understand that the trailer is supposed to give a taste of how the movie is, and that the taste given isn't representative. But no trailer has ever been representative.
Here's an interview with the director.

I watched it few months ago. The movie is very good, but there is not too much depth to it, if you know what I mean.
