i'm playing as the Ghorids, and my Sultan Muhammud the godfearer just got his 11th authority point.
no idea how it happened, must be a bug, and yes i counted right.

If you went through and counted all the +Authority from traits...
1. It's possible to have >10, although it will only show 10 for the pips.
2. All above 10 don't count for game puproses, consider them a cushion in case your FL goes crazy or something.
3. You fail. You need a hobby.

what does exactly authority affect and in which way?
screenshot plz
how do you post a screen anyway, and i don't think it matters because 1 turn after he got the extra authority point he lost all authority for being a shiite, and then i got a CTD.
so it is a bug
Post it in the bug reports.

Why do you guys demand screenshots?? I've encountered this so many times I thought it's such a common bug and people knew about it.
I even had a Seljuk faction leader who has 11 authority points, and then for some unknown reason it got reset to 0!! (He was an over achiever with unenviable traits like wife cheating on him, being other's laughing stock, and is even nicknamed .... the cuckold!)
Because it validates...I could say man, why do my horsarii carry flaming chickens instead of lances...you see. That's all.Why do you guys demand screenshots??
what about my question, can anybody help to explain me what is authority helping in exactly? or maybe give me a link to where it's explained?
Thanks in advance
authoroty is helping against rioting population,it makes your generals more loyal and the soldiers obey direct comands very well
Authority directly affects how likely your armies are to rebel.
It may have some effect on diplomacy as well, but I have yet to actually test that out.
As far as rebelling armies go, you're usually safe if your Leader's Authority + General's Loyalty is greater than 10. There's an element of chance, obviously, but beyond that point you normally shouldn't worry too much.

I believe that authority also influences how happy the towns and cities are. The most direct effect that I've seen with authority is supposedly with regard to a captain of yours rebelling - although I have a 6 authority leader and a certain captain still went and rebelled.
