Default Medieval2 total war has encountered an unspecified error and will need to shut down

    Hi to all

Well this just gets worse. I tried to install the patches from the Kingdoms disc having bought Kingdoms, but when I try to install it I get the following message:

Error: invalid or missing target c:\program files\sega\medievalII total war\data\sounds\voice1.dat update cannot be continue'

This seems to be a common problem as there are at least a couple of threads dedicated to it, but without any working solution.

So then I thought I’d just play MTW2 un-patched, and without Kingdoms. Now, just when I’m just starting to get into a career, I get

‘Medieval2 total war has encountered an unspecified error and will need to shut down’

Again this seems to be a common problem, yet there just doesn’t seem to be any work around.

Can some one from Sega, or anyone else offer a little more than, ‘works ok on my machine’! I really loved the Total War series and would love to actually play MTW2. I hope someone can offer something useful to this fellow gamer who has spent well over a $120 on a game and add-on which seems to be unplayable and with seemingly little interest from the games developers

Surely this is a little unfair

You won't get anywhere unless you get the game to install without errors.

Copy the DVD to a folder on your HDD and if see if you don't get errors, if not then install from the HDD rather than the disc.
