India will become a superpower a few hundreds years after China falls. So, it won't be anytime soon because China will not fall anytime soon.![]()

well we know that india's infrastructure is rather sub-par compared to china's, at the moment, but i hear a lot of ppl going on about how india may become a superpower.
1) becuz of IT
2) becuz they speak engrish
no. 2's a funny one. why dont indians prefer speaking in hindi?
The chances of india becoming a superpower are about as roughly large as the chance of Israel or England becoming a superpower.
Not enough oil, Not enough of a boost from skiled immigrants, and nothing to "push" them from their current stage to that of a superpower.
Now if a extremely valuable substance was found in there, or a extrremely powerful new technology, it might boost them to superpower status.
But its unlikely. Theres nothing to honestly point to the direction they will become one, especially with the dwindiling amount of oil in the world.
"If you can't get rid of the skeleton in your closet, you'd best teach it to dance." - George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950)
No.
India and China will check each other's power.
India is behind China in terms of fully industrializing, and they aren't internally unified enough to marshal all of their country's resources.
It's doubtful either one will become Superpowers with global reach equal to (or even rivaling) that of the US.
They're too close to each other (and Russia), don't have comparable resources to support their populations, and are far behind the US military in terms of having the capability to project force beyond their borders, not to mention having the equally necessary geo-political interest and consolidation to do so.
dont bandits still terrorize some highways in india?
No. But they will be an important ally in the US/Japan/SK/Australia bloc in that region.
So are US/Chinese and US/Russian officially. What the politicians say before the cameras is generally always.
Australia is and will remain a close ally of the US. As your own PM has said, it is their single most important bilateral relationship. There is a reason your defense minister is pressuring us to sell them our F22s, and it sure ain't Afghanistan.![]()

No it probably won't. Much of the country is facing an environmental crisis and therefore within the next 40 years a crippling famine is very likely. However, that's just one of India's many problems. It is a multi-ethnic and multi-religious state and it is hostile towards two of its neighbors which makes India less stable.
At the moment India is not a good position. However, if the Indian government can stop the desertification across the country and make peace with Pakistan and China then India could become a superpower.
What the hell is this, why didn't you call me, the Indian Socialist.
I lived in India for 10 years, and it has really improved from what I can tell.
-----
India can become a superpower, even without on-par infrastructure with China, but with Infrastructure, India can grow 3-4% faster in GDP.
----
Conditions are improving faster than the population is growing, there will be no famines. This is stereotypical of people living the Western Countries to assume that India will experience deadly famines.
aye, i agree with icefrisco
India has a lot of work to do. I don't think taking American jobs can sustain them, because their population, for the most part, is in some serious poverty...and there's only so many jobs they can take from the west. They need to start specializing in something, like the Asian tigers did. India has great potential though.
As a westerner, I hope they fail....as I hope china does as well.....too much competition allready![]()

I hate when people say thinks without arguments in each year exercices take place in witch special forces are put to rezolve (terrorist attacks, hostage rescue etc.) situations and the Germans are nr. 1 followed close by US.
India a superpower ?How Superpower could India become in comparation with China,US or EU?
A local power yes but a superpower? They are too close to China and China has the upper hand.
