Icon1 Cinematic Editor with SS 6.1 (Tutorial)

Basically this program allows you to take pictures/videos of battles. You can zoom in as close as you want.

This picture would be an example of a picture from a cinematic editor.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

Notice how close you can be to the units.

Note the picture is edited, it doesn't just pop out like that

So, what you need is download the ready files, and have fun.

These are compatible with SS mod. However it will not work, if the SS is located in another directory, or you simply did not take a replay file from one of your intense battles Then you would have to manually edit the cin-ed.cfg so that it matches the location of your mod.

This is your cin-ed.cfg file. You can edit it with notepad.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

What most of the important lines are:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
You can change the resolution for the main window in which you can take pictures by editing the following line under [video]

    battle_resolution = 1024 768 <<default

Also, you might have to change the actual graphics settings inside the editor. Mine are already set to medium high, but if your computer is faster, or slower than mine, you might have to change it even higher or lower.
Remember that, this is almost the same as your actual game.

Just look under [video] and you'll see which ones you can edit.
Example: Unit_Detail = highest (could be, high, medium, low).

    Too much detail = lag.

Under the [replay] is where the .bat file find your replay. Remember to actually play a battle and save your replay. Otherwise it doesn't work.
At the end of this line:

    file = C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Stainless_Steel_6\replays\Replay.rpy

If you saved your replay under a different name, you must rename the highlighted word to whatever name you have given it, and make sure to put .rpy at the end of it.

I am guessing that [features] lets the editor find the mod.
    Also, [capture_tga] does not work?

The cine-ed.bat file basically points to the SS 6.1 installation, otherwise the editor won't work.

You can edit it by right clicking on it, and press edit.

This attachment below includes my files which should work just fine, if you simply save your battle replay under default name, replay and simply run the cin-ed.bat file, and it should start.

Not if your replay name is different, read the spoiler above.

After you download my files, open the rar file and drag and drop it's contents into default medieval II directory.

I hope this helps you guys.

P.S. I know that there is tons of other cin-ed tutorials, but this one, simply tells you how it works with SS. 6.0/6.1

My question is when I try and move the camera around it moves very slowly therefore it is hard to jump from one side of my army to another. How can this be changed?

Under [Camera] Change the values of move & rotate to a higher value.

    No problem...

About the value. I have no idea now, after I looked in the medieval2preference.cfg it's 30 & 10...But I don't know why it doesn't move as fast in the editor. I guess you just have to increase it until it suits you.

I have a question. Or actually two of them.

First one: It says: [audio] disabled=true. So that means you cant play with sounds?
And The Second: Can you take replays of campaign battles, as you can't save the replays of them without the editor?

    1. For the audio, just type false instead of true, and when you fire up the editor it will have sounds.
    2. Unfortunately you cannot save replays in campaign...:'( only in custom battles

    Cheers.

P.S. By the way, each time you use cinematic editor, and if it has different settings than the ones you have in the actual game, it overwrites it. So you might want to put medieval2preference.cfg file to read_only to prevent that from happening.

You mean in campaign battles? If so, right after you're done with your battle, when you see the statistics, there will be a "save replay" option. Hope this helps.

I can get it to work!

When I run it, I get the screen as in thumbnail, it was a night battle.. So I looked in my log and all it says is this: REPLAY checker difference at tick 0!

I tried checking and unchecking some 0 to 1, but couldn't make it work! :hmmm:

It is working you are just under ground. lol

point the camera up and zoom in. Depending on the altitude of the map of battle sometimes you pop in with the cineditor in som strange places. I've looked around for units on teh battle map with in cin-editor for 15 minutes before i found them.

Ahh...You're right...There is no option to save battle replays from campaign. I'm afraid you can only do it by creating your own custom battle.
