Why Byzantine Spearmen suck?

Sorry for the title of the thread but that is what i really saw about the byzantine spearmen they are kinda sucky doesn't really done some tests but thats what i saw in them no offense to people who like the faction(like the faction myself)but is it some glitch? thanks guys, could really have some help with that

It's no glitch. They just suck - plain and simple.

ca probably made them suck to show their outdateness. but that impairs the game alot as byz spearmen are like the only infantry you have in the beginning

Hei try some new mods you will change your opinion look for stainless steal 6.1 or Broken crecent but in the vannila game they realy suck.

you can always change their stats in the export_descr_units.txt if you really want

thanks guys but what about on stainless steel 3.2? will there be any changes on the byzantine spearmen's stat or even the byzantines unit roster?

if you want a improved byzantine army with better skin and additional troops, try stainlesss steel. If you want a revised byzantine army where their crack troops are completely murderous in hand to hand, try broken crescent

thanks frontier-auxilia at least i knw now what stainless steel can do and im actually downloading the stainless steel 3.2 a couple of hours ago, I'm so excited about what the byzs will look like, but is the stainless steel ur saying...i mean what version of stainless steel are you talking about? hope download time pays offthanks anyway guys

Hey, you could download 4.1 or 6.1 if you have Kingdoms. I never played Byzantines (don't like them very much) but I'm playing Templars now (SS 4.1) and they're my second worst enemy now (the first beign those damn Egyptians and the third being the Turks, which I'm about to get rid of).

I never noticed they suck though. They don't seem to fare well against my Templar spearmen, but they're upgraded anyways, and of course they die against heavy infantry and cavalry charges, but that's the same for every light spearmen, isn't it?

whats the latest SS mod without the requirement of medieval 2 kingdoms? anyway thanks guys, really appreciate the help, and right now I just wanna play badly coz I think the latest SS without the need for kingdoms is 3.0 - 3.2 but can't get without the 1.2 patch where exactly can i get the 1.2?
