Error: invalid or missing target c:\program files\sega\medievalII total war\data\sounds\voice1.dat update cannot be continue' HELP!!
Hi to you,
OK I hope people are still playing this game so there might be some one out there with a solution.
OK, I have just installed MTW2 clean, no mods or patches, then tried to install Kingdoms, first up Kingdoms wants to patch original MTW2, all goes well until 'Error: invalid or missing target c:\program files\sega\medievalII total war\data\sounds\voice1.dat update cannot be continue'
So tried again, now I get Kingdoms install wont patch to vers 3 because it doesnt recognise vers1
So I do a complete uninstall, including via regedit, and deleting all connected files to Sega, medieval total war etc, a complete clean. Then I try again after reboot, some thing.
I found another thread where this voice1.dat seems to be a common thing with 100s of players stuck with the same problem, there are a few suggested work arounds which I have tried but to no use. The fact that so many people suffer the same problem would seem to argue against a corrupted disc
This game has been out for a while so surely someone has a solution, or are we all just supposed to give up
So now I'm completely lost how can I update the game
Please can some one help I really want to enjoy this game
Regards
R

Hm, I don't even have Kingdoms, but it does kind of sound like an issue with the patch contained on the disc. Maybe try downloading the patch and applying it separately, and then installing Kingdoms?
You can find the 1.2 and 1.3 patches for the original game at http://www.totalwar.com/us/support/s...edievalii.html (I don't think you'll need to install 1.3 before Kingdoms, but I'm not 100% certain on that).
Not sure if that'd help ya or not, but it might be worth a shot to patch from the download before trying to install Kingdoms.

Will give that a try but dont hold out much hope, seems incredible with so many foks reporting the same problem that Sega has just not offered anything on the issue

Hi there Chimaera, nice of you to move it, I wonder is it now in the technical questions section, if so the reason I asked here was that I never received a useful answer there.
I wonder if you have any suggestions re the problem as its clearly affecting many players

The omly trouble I ever had with version 1.2 installing was a bad download. I had to download it twice to get a good one. Have you tried downloading it, again?
