Default Osgiliath and other unique settlements

The permanent stone forst looks like it might provide a solution, these look like unique settlements from Master Zuma's mod

Nice looking forts... looking forward to seeing what the TATW team can do with them.

I still don't like the idea it'd be better for gameplay if things like this were small settlements instead of a stone fort even if it's not as acurate

Could allow us to make realistic looking Helm's Deep or Minas Tirith models though. I don't know how the custom cities works or indeed how far it can be adapted, but if it's possible to make unique city models for the important sites of Middle Earth it could enhance the mod greatly!

not really stone forts are tiny and would look nothing like Helms Deep or Minas Tirith

Indeed, but if the method used to create the custom forts is open-ended enough, the team may be able to make it look like Helm's Deep. Just because the forts shown in the pictures there are all small and square, doesn't mean the method is necessarily restricted to creating only that design and size. You can see in one there's a bridge into the fort, probably not traversable by ingame units, but you can see the potential there.

Helms deep wasn't really huge though. Nor was it a training center for Rohan. If you can train units besides Militia in Helms Deep, or it's population could increase, that would be a little rediculous.

I don't know enough about Lord of the Rings to sensibly argue, perhaps then give the options to those that wish to make use of it, allowing them to gear it up? I know if I had somewhere like that with a country full of peasant farmers I'd make use of it as a centre for military!

well making it a stone fort will just mean that it will never be used by the AI and means that there is no point to owning it at all because losing it will cause no problems making it a castle will fix that because it can still be your last settlement if Isenguard does what they did in the movies

I think Silentlamb was arguing for restricting it's unit production capability more than what type of settlement it will be.

Since it was never used unless in emergancy, he feels unit production from there should be minimal, not so much making it a permenant fort, more a castle or such, if the tool used to mod the permenant forts can be transferred to proper city modding.

yes it would but after research I can only see helms deep work as a historical battle and won't work on the campaign or as a custom battle(but who knows someone might find a way...)

Having Helm's Deep in a historical battle is awesome...

The question is how can we get third party software made by ppl in like Sweden. Because I'm pretty sure it is made. It's just how secretive said mod in question is going to be about it. I'm being very sneaky yes.

Interesting. It would be possible to use these forts as settlements on the campaign map, no? If so, they'd be perfect for some fortresses which didn't protect a large population behind their walls - places like Cair Andros, and, as I've seen discussed, Helm's Deep.

yeah but I at least want more settlements and less permanent forts anyways if Helms Deep was a permanent fort Rohan can't make it their last settlement when Isenguard attacks all of Rohan which happened in the book
