OMFG. This is NOT fair!?!?!

This is the WORST thing that has EVER happened to me in the history of my playing this game.

My two most awesome generals were in Macedonia when I was attacked by two massive stacks of Mak's, and basically, huge battle fought, destroyed everything, routed virtually all of their units....and I get a CRUSHING DEFEAT ending!?!?!?

I EFFING WON. THEY WERE ANNIHILATED.

And not only that, it completely wiped out both of the generals armies aswell, including the generals themselves.

This has irritated me beyond belief...I am actually intoxicated with rage right now, as it's pretty much fooked up my game unless I wanna cheat which I don't.

I don't think I will be playing RTR for a while, lest I smash up another keyboard.

Yeah, there was no accident here.

Was a pure glitch...quite possibly the most annoying glitch ever, even more frustrating than old people in cars.

Another thing that has happened before as well, is that armies will randomly vanish..like literally...I'm not stupid or anything, I KNOW I left an army someplace...it was there like less than a few turns ago but now it seems to have evaporated into thin air, much like the contents of my wallet this week.....

and my tolerance for this game/my computer/people of Macedonian descent/life/lack of sex

Oh, mistake. I save before and after every battle and whenever there's an advantegeous diplomatic meeting in my favor.

Something I learned the hard way a long time ago - save the game at the end of each turn, and "quicksave" before each and every battle - just in case!

I quicksave before each battle, before each negotiation, and before ending my turn. All three of these things can generate CTDs in some circumstances (though the current RTR and ExRM builds are both very stable in my experience). I don't abuse my quicksaves; I only use them to avoid bugs. Most often I'm trying to avoid having the AI blockade my ports for no apparent reason.

As the the bug encountered by Thotiate, I've encountered this sort of problem before. One thing I've noticed is that sometimes the game gets confused on who is attacking and defending when multiple armies attack me at once. It's rare, but it does happen. When it does, I've 'lost' battles in the same way that you did. I wish that I could offer some help besides commiserating, but that's the best I have for you.

Bad luck, but it sounds like just the sort of think that those Macedonians would do. They used to infect my cities with plague, ignore every other faction and send stack after stack against me and generally suck the enjoyment of the game from me, as I fought my thousandth battle against phlanx after phlanx. So I wouldn't put it past them turning your fantastic victory into a victory for them. They're just sneaky like that and I hate them

I understand that that is ALOT of stuff, but such is the all consuming hatred that I harbor for these intolerable Mak's.

I know how you feel, I had to lift some sieges now due to CTDs after a successful battle too...

sometimes it CTD when you take a city after a battle. I noticed that if you choose to "exterminate populace" it doesn't CTD.

Sometimes waiting some time when you get out of battle helps to prevent CTDs. I once got one right after battle when I capturet the town. I replayed the battle and insted of enslaving population I exterminated it. CTD! The third time I just waited some time and pressed exterminate again. This time it worked perfectly.

Hey thanks for the tip. I got that feeling too, but as there is no reason to why it should be like that i discarded it ^^
