Easy screenshots

Hi I found a program which I think may be useful. It's Howie's funware screen capture Tool. Here's the link : http://www.howiesfunware.com/. After clicking you must go to the left panel and click "Misc Sofware" and then just click the first link. Here's a capture:



Once installed clikc the icon in your desktop and go to file-->Preferences and here you can configure it as you like.

So, just to make it clear, it saves a screenshot without you changing to that program specifically to save it?

yes, you only have to create a folder where you want the screen to be saved and assign a key (ie default is F12). Look at this thumb



For example, my path es C:\My Documents\My Images\ Roma Total Screens. Create your folder and select a key and then all the screens you'll take will be saved to that specific folder.

i used it once before, but the noise it makes when taking a screenshot annoyed me. Im sure there's a way to take it off, but i couldnt be bothered to figure it out, so just went back to fraps which works well enough

There's a button in preferences that lets you remove that sound....

Says it's not compatible with 64 bit windows or some such and I can't even install it!!! Stupid Fraps always makes my games freeze so I was really hoping this would work.

If fraps freezes the game, have you tried re-installing it? I had this problem, but when I reinstalled it, the freezing vanished.

Someone said that you can somehow paste the TGAs onto MSPaint. How would you do that?

hit the "print" key on your keyboard ingame, open ms paint and paste it there! now you're able to save it uncompressed as tga file

I was trying to paste the tga files......

So I guess you have to minimize the game and then paste it? I know this is a really stupid question, but how do you minimize the game?

Here's a tip. If you add 'ne' to the end of the shortcut target line, you can make RTW run in easy minimize mode. Basically it allows you to open another program on top of RTW at the same time, so you don't have to flip between. Just make sure you pause the game when you switch over to the other program, because it keeps on playing otherwise. This makes it really useful to paste screens into paint, so you don't have to sit through that loading bar every time you maximise RTW again.

If you do use the MSPaint style, will you still be able to edit the pictures so they only have a certain part, like the minimap, and you can enlarge it? Or would it just be you get that pictures and there's no editting it?

If you wanted just a picture of the minimap, then you'd just paste a fullscreen screenshot and crop out everything except the minimap.

Alright, I'm going to go try it out. I hope it works, then I can start all the AARa I have been planning.
