    Default AI opening gates

    Almost 8 out of 10 times when i've attacked a settlement when i am about to start to batter down the gates the AI just opens it and attacks the ram, thus defeating the need to batter it down. Anyone else having any similar issues? I'm on SS6.1, playing h/h.

    yep it happens to me too, makes siege battles way easier

    Yes, I have seen the same behavior. But it does not bother me much: when you reach the gate with the ram it is done for anyway.

    I usually shield the ram with something expendable which might be why this hasn't happened to me much... the ram is also often flanked by some poor buggers with ladders who are about to get massacred for king and country which might further explain it.

    Is your ram relatively isolated from the rest of your men?

    The AI will usually sally forth if it has a numbers advantage over your army.
    This is the only time I have noticed this. Also you may want to try Lusteds new expermental battle AI located in the sub mod forum.

    It does it with Lusted's AI as well. I only have it happen on small wooden walls though which are gimmes anyways.

    I have the same issue with SS and DLV, even if I outnumber the AI, but yeah only against wooden walls.

    there are tons of wooden settlements with the late era campaign.

    This is fixed in 6.4 I suppose - defenders would no longer run out even from the small towns.

    to be fair about the necro, the enemy still sally out while my ram is at the gates, making it easy for a nice rush

    I just did what the people always suggest - RTFM and search the forum :-) I did have the problem - every time I installed SS6.3. I suppose that my installation of SS6.4 was broken somehow, as this

    seems to disappear after the clean installation of M2TW + SS6.3 + SS6.4 without any other extra stuff. I am not sure yet for 100% though, still need to do more tests.

    Alright Initial report look to me like an "all clear - everything is fine"
    Germanicu5 is already on it it seems. Issue might be local superiority

    Moved to Bug Reports & Technical Help in any case
