DVD Problem not seen in other threads

Hey,
I just picked this game up yesterday and neither of my dvd drives recognize the discs. I updated firmware and the models are Sony DVD-ROM DDU1615 and Philips DVD+-RW DVD8701. I can't seem to figure this out. I have the gold edition and the drives recognize the kingdoms disc just fine. The only problem is with the first disc. I need help. I really don't want to buy a new drive and I know that these two have the minimum read rates and they are 16x. Any help would be appreciated. I also tried disabling DLA and Recording.

Yes it has been covered before. Turns out Sega shipped a bad dvd. Before anything else go over the dvd real good to make sure there are no scratches, foreign material, or somebody tried to use it for a frisbee. If your drives don't recognize it but recognizes other cds and dvds then it's not a drive. After that and still won't work contact Sega support and explain them your problem. Maybe another bad disc.

I am currently copying the files from the dvd onto my dad's laptop and then going to send them to my desktop. His drive read the disc fine but his work laptop restricted the install process. So i am going to try to do a desktop install with the files from his laptop. Odd that it works on his drive but not mine....so the disc is good, but just doesn't work on my desktops drive. thanks for the info

Ok, so i copied the files from cd I onto my dads laptop, burnt them on a new dvd and did a desktop install with those files on my desktop....then switched to the kingdoms cd when it asked for disk 2. install completed. now when i run the game it tells me to insert the original kingdoms disk which is in the drive! it tells me i have the wrong disk in! Help me please! this is rediculous.
