    Default Bottle-neck terrain

The whole point of the War of the Ring was the terrible odds of those who stood up to Mordor, right? So how about the terrain having lots of big rocks, gorges and valleys that create bottle-necks and allow the player to have a heroic last-stand battle when horribly outnumbered?

Yes, in the regions with the type of terrain to allow that (east emnet for example).

East emnet is full of gullies and trenches, I'd love to fight there. (It's a must for custom battle maps!)

Hey I had an Idea Minas Morgul was a gateway into mordor so could there be like two moutain regions around Minas Morgul but none in front or behind it, that would make Minas Morgul a strategic castle to take.

I like it. The Black Gate (or Morannon) should be the other way into Mordor.

well then lets hope there is a way to make that work on the campaign map as well as in historical battles but so far I doubt we can make custom cities work on the campaign but we can have custom landscape still none the less so long as no settlement exists

What we mean is that Minas Morgul and The Black Gate should be so close to the mountains that you can't get into mordor without taking one of them. No custom cities needed.

Bottle necks were historically most common in sieges, the part in the two towers where the Uruks blow up the wall on helms deep and the Elves just let the Uruks get in and form up is NOT what you should do in a siege, they should have charged the breach and made a bottle neck so that the Uruks would have to fight one at a time and therefore their advantage in numbers would be nullified.

Same goes for the Siege of Minas Tirith.

So far from what iv seen in the movies apparently bottle necks were avoided in middle earth...

Definately. It would be essential for a Lord of the Rings game to work in Total War - you've got Moria, High Pass, the Morgul Vale, Udun, Tarlang's Neck, Minas Tirith - in all these places bottlenecks should be able to be created, and yes, cities should be used to defend some of them, as in the books.
