    Default Two Mods

I installed Vanilla Rome: Total War the other day, patched it to 1.5 and then installed RTR Platinum over it. Is there any way I could also install Roma Surrectum as well? If it's not possible with what I've already done is there anyway to do it at all?

Do they use the mod switcher? I'm not familiar with either one.

I don't know the technical terms, but I'll do my best to explain it. A ModSwitcher is a function for RTW mods that allows a mod to be installed/played without altering any of the original files. This allows a single install of RTW to host several mods (as long as all of them use the ModSwitch function.

I'm not sure if RTR uses a ModSwitcher or not, but if you have to use a separate shortcut to run RTR, then chances are it does. Either way, I know RS doesn't use a ModSwitcher, so you wont be able to play both regardless.

There is a way around this though.

You can copy the entire Rome - Total War folder and paste it somewhere else. When you do that, go to your RTW shortcut, duplicate it, then change the "Target" and "Start In" locations to the new folder's location (right click --> properties).

When you go to install the mods, simply have one install into the original folder, while the other installs into the second folder.

Just to be safe, however; I recommend you uninstall RTR and/or your current RTW. That way, there should be absolutely no conflicts between the two. It does take a long time to duplicate the folder though, and it takes up a good amount of disk-space

RS is a really good mod. Kinda tough though. GREAT MAP. The team did a very good job imo

I haven't played RTR though. Looks good from what I've seen.

    Hope this helps, mate.

Thanks! I've played both and can't decide which one I want to stick with so I though I'd get both.

I love RTR since you can play as Rome and not have to listen to the Senate barking orders at you. And Macedonia is so awesome!

One thing I cannot figure out though is how the people who do AAR's from RS are able to keep their economys up when no matter what I always go bankrupt in about... six turns.

    Thanks again!

Probably extermination. That's what I do

Ha, or they just go out and conquer everything real quickly. Your income is pretty much directly related to your total upkeep for your armed forces, so as long as you try to keep as few troops as possible stationed in your towns at any one time, then chances are you will be very effective militarily and economically.

Btw, focus on economy before you really get into building military stuff. Saves you lots of money.

You'd think trading posts, ports and roads in all settlements would do that. I'll find a way though. I'm going to be very cross if I can't get those fancy legions in RS.

You need to make sure that you've got trade rights with as many factions as possible. Later in the game as your 'empire' grows that is less of a problem as your internal trade will be good.

Make sure that you have decent governors in each of your settlements. Train them up by building education buildings such as academies - this will give them better ancillaries / traits (eventually).

You also need to keep the spending on the upkeep of your army as small as possible - you need a decent economy to fuel expansion (through war).

At the start of a Roman campaign I try and disband about half the army at the start of the game - it kick starts the campaign.
