Being the Pope- help
When you control the Pope what exactly can you do? Currently there are two open seats and I want to put my people in those spots with my Pope, but I can't find out how. Also are there any benefits at all if I'm the Pope? Can I start taking out factions without being excommunicated?
Thanks in advance

u cant controll the pope, if your cardinal gets selected u will get full favour and then the new pope will be moving to rome and won't call u anymore.

Re: Being the Pope- help
Okay, first, to put one or your cardinals as the pope, you'll need a lot of experienced clergy. So build churches and the like, and try to have at least one priest per city. Then send priests off to convert foreign cities of another religion, that will increase their piety. Also having your priest take out a witch or heretic will increase piety if done successfully.
So once the pope dies and there is a papal election, vote on your faction if you think you'll win. Your allies will generally vote for you too, so that helps.
If you do win, then your papal relations will skyrocket to the maximum, and you can call crusades with almost certainty, any faction that attacks you will have their opinion lowered and may be excommunicated. If you attack other Catholic nations, you won't be asked to ceasefire as much, and it'll be more difficult to be excommunicated.
You can't control the pope directly, but it does give you lots of good opportunities. Also, I highly recommend you ally with the pope.
I hope that helps.
