    Default Two types of Hastati?

I have modded the edu file so the Roman Hastati have 40 men (normal) in each unit and have 6 shield defense. But i was in a campaign when i came across 2 Hastati units one had 5 shield defense the other had 6 (the romans are controlled by the ai). How come there are 2 Hastati types?

The only thing I could think of is that if you started the campaign before making these changes, then the Hastati with five shield defense and more men were from before you made the changes.

There are a bunch of "duplicate" units in EDU that serve special purposes. The ones with internal names like "allied hastati" are are special versions with zero upkeep that are used to bolster the forces of AI factions at the start of the campaign, without killing their economies with upkeep costs.

oh i see, Thx for explaining Dime

but now that raises more questions.

Wat triggers these units to be given to the ai?

Do these come from the capitol of the faction like the other bonuses?

p.s. now i realize this topic shouldnt be in the bug sectionsorry

The units are spawned by a script at the start of the campaign. They can't be retrained, recruited, or used in custom battles.

I was wondering why the allied hastati, principes, and Triarii were no different than the Roman versions.
