Does Campaign or battle difficulty affect autocalc?

I'm pretty sure that either the campaign difficulty or the battle difficulty level affects autocalc battles, but which one is it? I ask, because I am going to be autocalcing all battles that my role playing character is not in and hate when you're faction's army gets a horrible battle advantage thing despite their obvious superiority, just because of the difficulty level bonuses.
