Thats incredible, but I am wondering what kind of horsepower something like that can produce.

i'm wondering whether its worth using electricity to compress air to drive an engine rather than using an electic motor to drive the car.

I think it's more efficient to use compressed air, since you don't lose as much energy compared to fuel cells.

A combination of the second engine with that car might work real well. Did you see the power on that tiny one? The rotary .

That depends. The compressed Air might be less weight for the same distance traveled. Or, batteries might not have enough storage capacity to give a similar distance/speed.

Tho, from the actual data on the car, it looks like they might just be blowing hot air. There is no active prototype that has performed anywhere near what they are claiming. The test car drove 4 miles on one air tank, way shy of the 1,000 miles they promised.

Without carbon monoxide emissions how will people commit suicide by running the car in the garage?

Some people are going to look awful silly sucking fresh air out of the tailpipe.

It's the task of the Government and the environmental agencies to protect you... from yourself .
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."

when britain switched from mainly gas powered ovens to electric ones in the 70's there was a 5 year drop in suicide rates...

exactly, whilst there are electric cars in prototype stages that are incredible effective.

I wonder does the UK allow assisted suicide?

Also I don't think you can fit a dead body, a large plastic bag, serval yards or nylon rope and three concrete blocks in the trunk of one of those.

Mafia movies in the future are gonna suck.

There are big two problems with this concept:

Range: It is difficult to store large amounts of energy in compressed air.

Safety: The energy of the compressed air can be released rapidly. Batteries and even gasoline tanks, cannot explode in this manner.

    It does not.

The Aussie in the video was driving what looked like a Transit van, plenty of room.

There was a faint buzz on the internet about this whole air car thing a couple of years ago. Still they have not shown one actually performing to the stated capabilities.
It might be able to run ok in a limited way, but it's hard to see how it could take you hundreds of miles on a single tank. Air is just so inefficient at storing energy.

I think most of it is exaggeration, just bait to get private investors involved. Overall, I think the whole story is just a load of hot air.

Two French auto racers and engineers do now have a working van that runs on a modified automobile engine using compressed air and they hope to start production this year or next year or so. This van can travel at 55mph and has a range of 200 plus miles per one fibegalss tank of compressed air. Additional tanks may be bought and built in or attached to the walls of the van. I saw this on the inet a few months back and mentioned it several times here over the last couple of months. The photos Rush posted are of this French design I do believe.

The Tesla Roadster, an all electric sports car being made in limited numbers in Detroit, will go from 0 to 60mph in 3.9secs, and that is faster than a run of the mill Porsche 911, and the car has a 225 mile range before it is necessary to recharge it using a regular home electrical outlet.

Me neither. Might swipe one though. Temporarily anyway.

Lesser versions will be made, sedans, family vehicles, etc., but it will take time.

Hey these would be the perfect cars for politicians. They would never have to fill up just keep blowing hot air like usual.
