Added "The new and easy way" - full installer now, no more unpacking and stuff like that.
cool, i see you have now added a stone watchtower, something i am looking for!
what does it look like?
is it the same as "soupdragons" stone watchtower?
Tried it out. Works great.
Thanks Gigantus
Thanks for the pic Mr G, that looks like soupdragons stonetower. Im no modeller, so what would be the best way to increase its height by about 50%?
Hi, I'm struggling with something in Chiv 2 Mod, tried posting there but it's a bit quiet at the moment and haven't had a reply. Stone forts are already implemented as both buildable and pre-placed. All the pre-placed forts in descr_strat use either ne_fort_a culture northern_european or me_fort_a culture middle_eastern. In the settlements file there are folders for stone_fort_a , b , c etc in each cultures folder as well, but if I try changing the line in descr_strat to be one of these, when I launch a campaign and attack the fort, it is still the same model as it was previously.
Any ideas why the battle map model is not changing when I specify a different fort?
Thanks for coming back to me Gigantus, I've tried copying the "stone_fort_a" settlement folder from "North_European" over the one in my mod and then changing one of the forts in descr_strat to be stone_fort_a but it still comes up as the same default fort on the battle map unfortunately. I can also remove the specified fort from descr_strat altogether and it will still come up with the same default fort in the battle. Like this..
region Nottingham_Province
farming_level 0
famine_threat 0
fort 101 151 culture northern_european
Sorry, I think you misunderstood. I tried it with stone_fort_a and it didn't change the battle map model from the default one that is set. I also tried it with no fort specified at all and the battle map model ws still the same default one. (I tried that after reading Soul Firez's post on page 4 just to see what would happen.) I also tried renaming the folder that contains ne_fort_a (which in Chiv is what all the forts in descr_strat are normally set to) and the battle map model was wooden, even when specifying a different fort model. So in summary, I've tried numerous combinations of fort name in descr_strat and I either get the same default model every time or the wooden camp. I can't understand why specifying a different model in descr_strat for permanent forts is not overriding the default model used for the buildable forts.
Hello, I just installed and I succesfully see the new stone forts, but heres the thing, I cannot longer build any new stone forts, just towers, is there any way i can fix this? so i can build stone forts again? thanks
It'll be in descr_campaign_db, open with notepad, i cant remember exactly what it was but it should just be changing a comment from false to true or vice_versa, iirc it was near the bottom of the file and it should be self explanatory what needs changing.
I think building stone forts reverts to wooden forts on the battle map.. I might be wrong, you would have to try by assaulting a fort that you build.
Another reason would be a strategic map that is going to look like a raisin muffin because none of the forts will get removed (and the AI builds them, too).
great, thanks guys, another thing.. I succesfully see stone forts in campaign maps, but in battle map, they are still palisades, i tried upgrading in the same file from level 0 to level 3 fortification, but still the same problem occur
I didnt understand that well if I need to edit something in the descr_strat also? in order to see stone forts in battle? because I only changed from true to false and the level of fortification from 0 to 3, what should I edit on the descr_strat ? tjankss
