Default Assassin's Creed Soundtracks for BC

As an owner of and a sentimental fan of Assassin's Creed, one of the parts I loved best was the soundtrack (as with Broken Crescent!). I finally got to hunting down where to find it, and I found the answer here:

    http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=658879

It is to go to the official website at the following link, and use the password " Target " (case sensitive).

    http://assassinscreed.us.ubi.com/soundtrack/index.php

    There are six links there:

    01_City_of_Jerusalem.wav
    03_Spirit_of_Damascus.wav
    05_Acre_Underworld.wav
    06_Access_the_Animus.wav
    08_Masyaf_in_Danger.wav
    09_Meditation_Begins.wav

As the numbers of these tracks are not complete in their progression, I am not sure if there may be additional tracks in the /soundtrack/ directory available for download but do not have a corresponding link on the index page. If anyone more versed in computers or websites can figure out how to access the additional files, or determine if there are none to begin with, I would appreciate that.

    1. The City of Jerusalem track is by far my favorite - there is little explanation here - I recommend it for the WC_STRAT (Kingdom of Jerusalem - Western Christian Strategy map) track selection. It is absolutely beautiful and I would die to have it in an appropriate place in-game - of course if the BC team cannot, I'll mod it in myself if I have to.

    2. The Spirit of Damascus I favor a little bit less, but it could work as a track for the Ayyubid Sultanate (ISLAM_WEST Strat) track collection. It may suit a "militaristic" or "grandeur" feeling of the power of the Egyptian/Syrian Sultanate. "Whoever has not seen Egypt has not seen the power of Islam."

    3. The "Acre Underworld" track would work well for a mobilization track (although most of the time we have the chance to hear only the beginning of the mobilization tracks until battle is engaged). It is even a bit ominous for a mobilization track, though the singing at 00:20 may make for a nice starting point, and I am in favor of the piano sequence at 01:14. This could be a good addition with some editing.

    4. The "Access the Animus" track is the AC chase music. It is a good canditate for a battle track - perhaps a WC_STRAT (Kingdom of Jerusalem) one. There is a good start at 06:48 for an orchestral sequence starting at 07:01. My favorite sequence and a winner part is at 07:55. There is a sequence featuring a flute at 08:40 (it sounds reminiscent of traditional Arab music).

    5. There is not much to be done with "Masyaf in Danger", the track seems entirely contemporary in style.

    6. "Meditation Begins" is an excellent track for Strat purposes, if not for the extra eerie electronically-altered sounds overlaid on it. This is a track which I'm hoping some people out there recognize as another song which Ubisoft probably took and altered for its own purposes. It features a lively oud, flute, and tambourine melody - I'm thinking any Islam Strat track selection.

It would be wonderful if some of these tracks were added - I am unsure if they would have to be converted into MP3 (for bandwith economy, or because that is the only format the game reads), and it would also be nice if someone would edit these tracks for BC if needed. If anything, I'm willing to learn to edit sound files and help out if nobody else steps forward.

Edit: There are several tracks that are free for download too for the game Lineage 2. I really didn't like the game having played it for a significant time, BUT the music is wonderful - composed by Bill Brown!

    http://www.lineage2.com/pds/pds_music.html

I listened to these tracks a great deal instead of the popular music everybody downloads off of torrents, due to my lack of hacker expertise...

I am uncertain whether these tracks may have more relevance to Broken Crescent, BUT, I am posting them for two reasons:
    1. They are unprotected and free for download
    2. I recognized one track in the BC music list that matches a song on the Lineage 2 list. WC_STRAT_Gaelicforest.mp3 corresponds to "Forest Song" (#8 under "Town Themes")

01 The Call of Destiny - very good
03 Caravans Crossing - also very good, but may not be connectable with any Middle Eastern theme

Check the rest of the soundtracks there, a whole lot of new ones were added since I last played the game and downloaded the music around three years ago. Now you can simply click on the links to play the music via Adobe Flash Player plugin. If you want to download the track you just listened to, play ANOTHER track, then right click on the link and "Save Target As."

They are good pieces of music but the styles may not be very relevant - they are generic epic/pretty game background stock They may be worth listening to for the person who has some extra time and is interested, but there is no loss if the BC team does not take a look at them. Just something I happened to be familiar with.

How coincidental. I recently bought Assassin's Creed for the PC and have been hooked on it for the past few days. I agree it's music and atmosphere is just awesome.

I only like Damascus and Jerusalem musics. Rest are not good, maybe moody if you play the game, but not good for listening (most soundtracks are good only in-game)

SO awesome. And not to use this thread as a place to boast, but I'm one of those PC players who got a severe graphical glitch in the Kingdom map (rest of game is fine in Masyaf, Damascus, Acre, and Jerusalem). The whole place is crowded with planes of yellowy wheat texture every foot or so, and Altair can pass through them fine - but they're blocking my view. This happened also with the Arsuf map (planes of gray texture). The problem is likely due to my graphics card not being supported, but anyway I still beat the game by running through those places, blind!

All you need is a good ear and guts.

By the way, I missed saying this in my original post, the "Access the Animus" track, the longest one there, happens to be the thrilling chase music. No matter how droll the actual chase is, that music makes your adrenaline rush and makes you want to run all the faster and soar over rooftops like a daredevil, even when you do not need to!

Assassin's Creed ROCKS! I assume you guys figured out that the Assassin's in the game are actually Hashshashin.

Although portrayed incorrectly, this game still rocks!

    Oh yeah.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin's_Creed
[SPOILER ALERT - FINISH THE GAME FIRST!]

A Saracenophile like me could not miss the in-game references.

Altaïr ibn La-Ahad (الطائر ابن لا أحد , Arabic, "The Flying One, Son of None")

    ِAl-Mualim http://assassinscreed.wikia.com/wiki/Al_Mualim ( المعلم ) literally means "teacher."

Malik ( مالك )is a common Arabic name meaning "King" and Kadar/Kedar ( قدر ? - pronounced "qadr" meaning "capable") is another common name meaning "Powerful."

And then we're so going off topic and I'm risking being hunted down by BC team members dressed in white peaked robes and red velvet sashes wielding hidden wrist blades.

Yeah, to put it lightly . As far as historicity goes, it's only slightly above potraying naked spartans fighting for freedom against mutant persians.

I love assassins creed I almost cried when i bought it and found out my pc didnt meet the system requirements....

But it works anyway (albeit a bit dodgily sometimes...)

maybe BC could have a couple of assassins creed easter eggs? Rebel assassin Altair lurking near Damascus .....

I have to agree, Assassin's Creed was not what I expected. I thought they were making the game in a historical approach, and it is in some way, but not enough to my liking. I'm trying not to ruin any of the game for those who don't know, but towards the end of the game, it just gets ridiculous - although it is evident that the developers put much thought into this 'fictional novel/story.'

The developers already admitted that it was rushed out for Holiday shoppers. They needed another year to 'perfect' it, but the end result was still a very decent game at the very least. The graphics on the Xbox 360 are phenomenal, some of the best I have ever seen. However, the story line and the repetitive missions/atmosphere is very clear to the player around mid-game. What you end up with is a total of 3 different types of missions. Sure, you can kill anyone you want, and climb anywhere you want, but it really serves no purpose. I really wish they had had the time to perfect it, but I am eagerly looking forward to the sequel, Assassin's Creed 2 - which they are working on after they get the newest Splinter Cell done.

::SPOILER SNIPIT:: One thing I really didn't like was the voice acting for the main character. Although I realize that you are playing your ancestor THROUGH some modern person, I really wish they would have worked on some of the cheesy dialog. There were times where I just slapped myself in the face because the voice acting was just pathetic / or at least it sounded pretty cheesy to me. All the other voice acting is perfect, it's just the main character I have a problem with - Altair.

::EDIT:: However, I agree with the OP, the atmosphere and the music for this game is amazing. The time they took to build this environment and the music really shows. It's just the story line and the actual gameplay that I have a problem with.

more time?? MORE??? I had to wait MONTHS for that game!!! They kept delaying the pc version. It was meant to come out in november and didn't come until April or something ridiculous

It's a great game though. Despite the repetetive missions I can forgive it that. And it was never really marketed as a historical game, so I'd say the storyline's forgivable as well. But isn't the sequel going to be set in the future or something? GRRR

First off, it already is set in the future. How did you miss this? Or do you mean the main gameplay? Not sure. If they did this, I think they'd kill a lot of fans - in fact the entire series if you ask me. I doubt they'd do this.

Secondly, it WAS marketed as a historical game. I was following up on this game very closely, and it was not until after the day of release that they started 'revealing' hints that the game was actually set in the future, with what they called, 'a twist.' They kept everything hush hush for the 360 version (which is the version I am speaking of, not the belated PC version), that game reviews were even shocked at what Ubisoft did. While some like this 'twist,' everything they stated about the game prior to this was that it took immense amount of historical research. They emphasized the key word historical in every one of their dev diaries and their interviews with game review sites. This is one of the main things that attracted me to this game.

While they did live up to this in some regard - the general atmosphere and environment, the actual plot line is purely fictional sci-fi. While I am not bashing them for this, I can understand people's frustrations when they say they don't like it. While it's clear Atlair and the general game is from an atheist point of view (which again, is fine), their story is so ridiculous I would expect to read it in some atheist mock 'bible...' in other words, their story based on an atheistic approach is as ridiculous as a man called Jesus or Mohammad being prophets and having 'magical/spiritual powers.' While I respect this, and understand it's purely a form of 'literature,' I was expecting a much more unbiased game. I didn't want to play Altair from the future, I wanted to play an assassin from that time period. However, the way they set it up, the entire game is obviously alluding to some very present-day issues/concerns. Perhaps they wanted to get people to think about contemporary issues based on the past, and that's always good...I just was expecting something different...and I honestly believe they could have avoided the whole 'future sci-fi' stuff and still get their point across - which is a different argument, but I think the game comments much on contemporary political / social developments.

Still a good game though, I would have sold it if I hated it too much.
