Legion
I have recently installed Rome Total Realism Platinum 1.9 is it? I think it looks brilliant. Considering you can build Triiari right from the start I began using actual legions, Hastati at the front, followed by Principes and finally a line of Triiari, all units full expanded to two ranks thick, I havn't lost a battle with this formation - it looks pretty excellent seeing your troops lined up like that.Does the MoD actually make it possible for the correct legion formation to work better than when the units are seperate, I know the Eagle in the Triiari encourages surrounding units. cheers

Re: Legion
Give it a bonus in terms of actual controlled battles, more cohesive unit as it were, gives the troops in front a bit of backbone - Im sure I read somewhere that the Triiari eagle standard gives you that. Its just that when playing the original Rome I barely got chance to utilise Triiari because my economy could never build barracks that size, the reforms would come before I could train them. Now I've got all three I'd like to know how people utilise the units.

Re: Legion
The eagle gives a morale bonus to the nearby troops and not the unit itself. That`s all there is to it. But if you are interested in playing guides, Candelarius made this one time ago:

Re: Legion
Cheers for that Florin, this chaps fanatic about Romans... Do you reckon I can install the Italian "Romanised" infantry MoD (Italian swordsmen phase into Roman-looking hastati but not quite the same) on top of PE and still have my saved games? Are you lot gonna mess around with ME2TW too?

Re: Legion
Well, the original Extended Realism mod of Candelarius wasn`t upgraded for newer versions than RTRPE v1.7 iirc so it won`t work on your RTRPE v1.9(if that`s what you have). Candelarius abandoned it time ago, but some others took over and there developed it further and updated it for RTRPE v1.9. You can find their thread here:

You`ll need to ask them, but I`m pretty sure their changes won`t be saved game compatible with vanilla RTRPE.
There are a couple roman era mods in development for m2, but it remains to be seen if they`ll make it or not. As for rtr ported to m2 I doubt it will ever happen.
