SUPER LAGGY GAME! help people! please!

hey everybody i bought MTW2 a month ago because after playin RTW and its many mods for 2 years i finally got fed up with it (lol). Anyway it was the gold edition with the kingdoms expanstion with it (yuuuuuus!) but i installed all of them no problem with installation at all. But then i played it. I decided to test out the graphics (which i heard were excellent) and picked a england vs scotland game with only bout 5 units. It took forever to load up the batlle (about 3 minutes lol ) and i could barely move around. Then things went from bad to worse when i started a campagin. I could only just move around. My computer specs i only know the RAM which is 2GB and it is 1.6 GHZ. Is there anyway i could improve these if the are not enough??? It played RTW with high unit settings and stuff but i know MTW2 is different game.

You have enough ram. Processor according to specs is minimal at best. Video card?

hmm video card....do you have to have one to play MTW2? (i know sounds nooby but i really wanna play this) which one do you recomend?? also can you play MTW2 in windowed mode?

Are you trying to play this with an onboard graphics chip? Do you have a PCIe or AGP slot for a video card?

Yes you need a video card.How old is your computer?

8800gt, gts, or GTX are all perfect for this game (if you plan on having all the eye candy) but we don't know what kind of slots your motherboard has so those might not even be viable choices and your processor...if it is 1.6Ghz, is going to bottleneck your system and kill performance anyway so I'd play with everything set to low for now or go back to rtw if gameplay is still too slow.

go to the windows start menu and run a dxdiag so we can find out what kind of hardware you have

I had almost the exact same issue with the intial 1.0 release. You should try disconnecting from the internet, including disabling all of your connections, turn all of the settings all the way down, and maybe download new drivers.

download new drivers eh? which ones do you recomend? i installed the latest version of direct x.

Your problem is with vista. MTW and vista is a bad combination. You need drivers for your GPU.

GPU???? im sorry but im not THAT advanced in computers lol i googled it and its a graphics processing unit (a.k.a graphics card?)

Yeah, what graphics card do you have? It'd say under the video tab you already know about, it's the main thing when it comes to 3d gaming.

Go back in to the dxdiag, look under video and see what you currently have.
Some come with mid/low range graphics cards, or onboard/integrated chips that are to slow for smooth gaming.

Yes. Ram is okay but your card is old. Set your graphics settings like the post above you.

No, reread the post. The part quoted is your 6200 as being old. If your machine can hold an 8800gt and you can afford it, go for it, otherwise turn your settings down to low or medium.
