Another Vista Problem
Sooooo....I have Vista (thanks to the fact that I could never find a new laptop that had XP.....curse you Microsoft!)....my mistake.
But anyways, I've installed MTW with the XL mod and I've tried to run the game. I get to the main menu, but when I try and run a campaign I get as far as the loading screen after choosing my faction and it crashes. Of course Captain Obvious/Vista tells me MTW has stopped working (really? it has?....ugh) and goes to the desktop. I've tried running it on XP and Windows 98 compatibility modes and that has not worked. Here is are the details of the crash:

Hopefully I haven't set myself up for a hacker...I'm not too computer literate so please explain things very simply and thorough for me please.
What is a desperate gamer to do? I can't run MTW2 because my laptop isn't fast enough for all those little guys, and besides that MTW2 and RTW are gawdawfully easy.....thanks for the help....that is....if there is any....ugh.

Re: Another Vista Problem
Could you please post your log file located in
C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\logs
Did you install any new game patches? If you did, did you unpack? If you unpacked did you delete the two files listed in the readme file?
