    Default Someone Marry Me.. Please?

I've been noticing that everytime I start a new game my original family gets married and has kids but then their kids never get approached to marry. However, they are constantly being harassed to adopt people twice their age. Is there anyway to fix this and stop the adoption queries? Its quite annoying to have your faction leader be 40 years old and still be unmarried and heirless.

On the subject of heirs, I suppose I should ask; is there a way to choose your own heir? I'm tired of the game choosing people that married into the family and people that are not even in the direct line of succession. I don't want to kill off half my family before I can get the person I want, though..

for the heirs subject, its quite simple
no no no no no no no no no no nada nein NEVER (sorry about that)
its hard coded into the game and a lot of people are pissed about it, but its how heirs supposedly worked in the medieval age

well it's how the thing is supposed to work in the medieval age assuming your heir has a son before the faction leader dies which almost never happens so your kings son is frequently not the heir which is not how it's supposed to work in the medieval age

I had a fairly simple fix for the bloodline. just change the faction leader and factor heir traits to have 25 fertility each and play nations which can marry princesses. show the map with toggle_fow and every time u get a son who is meant to be the next king just find a princess to marry him to.
Also you can have your own princesses which u can marry to other family generals. so if u have a prince and he dies, the prince title will go to the husband of the princess.
you have to be very careful in looking after the bloodline, but i had a 7 pure blooded kings in a row that way by the end of the game.
good luck if u attempt it

Yeah, I usually add fertility traits to the relevant members of my family tree. It can really help out in the bloodline-not-dying-out thing. Plus, if you have several family members born in a single turn, then thirty or so turns down the line, you have a batch of fresh generals/princesses to help out in your situation then. Who knows, they could literally save your empire. It's allllll planning.

I think the problem with not marring or having no children has to do with the amount of Familiy members and Settlements

Yes, is there a way to change that?

in export_descr_character_traits.txt file find faction_leader trait and add
    Effect Fertility 20
do the same thing for faction_heir trait
this allows you to have more royal children. princes and princesses. this allows for a trick i use if i cant find another faction's princess.for example initially my king has a son and a daughter and i marry the son to another faction's princess. the son has another son. 16 years later he comes of age. if theres no other faction's princess available i will marry him to his aunt. this ensures they have children.
the thing with children and settlements only seems to affect the rate at which the computer selects whether you should have family growth. but because your fertility is higher and your princes are married, they WILL have children. thats how it works for me anyway.
also changing 'coming of age' to 15 and 'age limit' to 63 ensures your next princes are of age to become official princes when the king dies

One of the problems/compromises in the game is that all factions start with many things equal. Princesses are not married. Very few children in the "pipeline", if any. No extended family tree.

Starting off, all factions have an artifically large supply of eligible bachelors and princesses. The result is that there are a flurry of marriages. Once this settles down, marriage is harder.

This is normal and to a degree historically accurate. The problem is that the family should be arranging these marriages when the kids are 7 or 9. The should be getting married before "coming of age" as a general at 18. At this age they should have 1 or two kids. Also, the kids should be dieing off with a high child mortality rate.

However, this is a game. Political sensitivities are what they are. Kid come of age at 18. Kids do not marry until they come of age. Children do not suffer high child mortality rates.

Edit: Also fertility perhaps should be a function of whether your generals are always in the field fighting or administering a settlement. But then the group of playeers with the turn Europe to a cinder and win by turn 89 will not be happy. Sigh!!!

I don't know if this is luck but for some reason like in turn 60 my king is younger than the prince so the son becomes prince then king when the prince dies.
    Got nothing...
