    Default Succession insanity

The impression I got from reading the wiki is that this mod is supposed to make succession more sane. It hasn't, in my experience. Just gives these traits and stuff related to succession that don't seem to make a difference. Non-royal generals still usually get preference for leaders. In fact, the succession seems completely random. Non-royal generals are chosen when there are some more suitable to the role of king, or more eligible in terms of birthright.

Are there any mods that do make succession sane, and make the game move slower? I've tried a bunch of factions and they all run into the same problems, with blood princes being labeled heir presumptive (?!) when they become faction heir, and so on.

I like the mod for the most part, but the succession aspect (and of vanilla as well, as that was f'ed up as well) frustrates me to the point of not wanting to play.

As for as I am aware succession is broken and hardcodeded. Many mods (if not all of the major ones) have tried different techniques with varied success on having your family tree remain pure.

The only way I know of to keep some semblance of order is to never adopt or marry a non royal. While the heir's still bounce around the family like a ping pong match at least your king will be from the original bloodline.

As for making the game move slower, I don't quite understand what you mean. Do you mean this mod, by using a submod to change and make it slower.

Or do you mean another major mod that has a slower campaign?

The former, I don't remember, but I think there were some try using the search function.

As for the latter the only one coming to mind is DLV which makes the game move slower (as well as increase wait per turn a lot).

Try looking at DLV, though, it does change quite a bit from original vanilla style.

Alright, thanks. I really did enjoy the mod though, succession woes aside. If no mod really fixes it, I guess I'll have to learn to live with it and let my imagination fill in the blanks (although in some cases it'd have to be a stupid imagination, ugh.).

Damnit, Creative Assembly, would a change faction heir option from RTW have been too much to ask? Duh.

And I looked into DLV before I saw this, heheh. I always seem to ask first then find.

I agree, it is pretty annoying.
I have learnt to manage my succession pretty well, but as soon as a king dies before the heir's son comes of age, the fecal matter hits the proverbial fan. Then the only thing to do is wait for the true heir to come of age, and then kill off the current faction heir (Keep some pet swiss pike rebels for the purpose , or just use the old suicide boat, although it's a bit harder to time reliably). At least in my experience that puts it back on track. I usually have to do this every 4-5 or so successions. I always line up a nice high charm princess a year or two before my king dies, to minimize the downtime in baby-making
Good luck with your too well groomed family tree!
