Icon1 [SS AAR] my first AAR - gods AAR

for this AAR i use the stainless steel 6.1 mod. I'am playing with the templars and the narrator is god himself

rules for this AAR:
battles led by an general of mine i will fight myself
battles led by captains are always auto-resolved
I can only wage war with Pagans or Muslim factions, for the Templars fight in name of God and only fight against infidels and heathens
I may not wage war against christian factions even if they attack me i cannot attack them and may not besiege settlements, bribe how ever is not forbidden
and ofc no cheats

my goals:
secure the holy land in name of god
the most important religion in the game wil be christendom (this counts only for the regions in North europe and the lands surrounding the mediterranean)

settings:
hard/hard
long campaign
battle time limit on
don't follow cpu moves

edit: i forgot to mention but if i ever ever insult someone it isn't my intention and it will never will be

Prologue

I heard prayers of my followers, they were being hunted by saracens and the seljuks as deer hunted for their flesh

they begged me for help, there only goal was to reach the holy land, and live there in peace so they could spend their lives worshipping me and my son

When another attack came by the Seljuks, the leader of this pilgrimage fled with his bodyguard, he heard later that al the pilgrims were massacred, In his prayers he asked me for my forgivenis, he would never let such an attack happened again, In him i found the person i needed for my goal, his name was Hugues a member of the French aristocracy
[/IMG]

I gave him a vision, I told him to go to the smal castle of Tortosa, he could became the lord of this castle with my help but only if he fulfills his promise in his prayers. he abonended his title and went to Tortosa with his son, here he gained power

Beginning
And so it became that Hugues would become the first leader of Tortosa in my name, the first leader of my order to protect my followers, my first grandmaster of the templar knights, who will protec my followers in the holy land against the infidels,

My first task for Hugues was to release my followers from saracen rule in Syria and Armenia.

So i send him away with an army from tortosa to attack the city of Antioch the capital of Syria, this was once a settlement of great importance to the Christian world as it was one of the last Christian bulwarks in the middle east when the Muslims came, this reflects in the population as still a large percent is Christian i need to release them from Islamic rule

when he arrived Hugues wanted to attack immediately, i asked him to be patient as the perfect moment wil arrive soon enough, at some point Hugues was tired of waiting and attacked, he besieged and invaded Antioch, i was furious for i wanted to wait the siege out so no pure blood of my followers will be spilled,

after a lengthy siege with a few setbacks the saracens lost there courage and fled thanks to my intervention
[/IMG]

but still many brave christians fell,

[/IMG]

but he eventually won the battle and now the christians in Antioch can rejoice for it's again me who they need to worship to and not the false god of the muslims

[/IMG]

He then exterminated Antioch but i made sure that no harm would be done to my followers. I was displeased with Hugues for he had disobeyed me by rejecting my advice and by spilling some much blood of my followers, however he builded a chapel so my followers would have a place of worship. however the next time he does this he will get punished severly

Part 2
When the days were passing by, Hugues retrained his army and made sure his men got some rest, I knew that the next stage of our plan was to free the christian armenians.

Whille he was retraining his armies I send a follower of mine to the south as I wanted to know how the situation was in the country where my son was born,

Thanks to this follower I know that my son's country of birth is being threated by the Saracens,

[/IMG]

I was sad for I knew that my son's followers would soon be oppressed by Muslim rule, but it gave me comfort in the knowledge that me and my order were soon able to take Jerusalem away from the Saracens

The army was ready for action, but with the taking of Jerusalem I feel it's not wise to free Armenia now, it would be more wise to go to Damascus before more land belongs to the unholy Saracen dogs!!!

And so my holy army marched to Damascus under command of Hugues who can now rewin my trust by winning the siege and assault of Damascus

[/IMG]

I realised we were just in time as when we laid siege to Damascus a vast Egyptian force arrived ready to attack the city but still we were earlier and the Egyptians neither attacked us or the town.

[/IMG]

When we were ready to assault we assaulted the walls and conquered the Town of Damascus, this time the siege goes as planned as Hugues listened to me and with my guidance and leadership we won the town, rejoice for Christianitie's grip on the holy land is tightening

[/IMG]

But with good news coming a lot of bad news is coming. Terrible news indeed

[/IMG]

The most holy of cities has been captured by the saracen dogs, The place were my son had lived and died has been captured, the place were my followers come to and pray to me. The place I want to see as the capital of my Order.

With this said I notice that the heart of our course is waning. When I was busy figuring out the Muslim way.

My grandmaster is celebrating his triump in Damascus, and not on a good way. Every night of the past week he is drinking lots and lots of wine and beer and most of all he commits sins against me and against his family. he is visiting brothels, let women come over to his new house in Damascus to party al night long and sometimes he even invites men

I am disapointed he is wavering away from our course, he prefers alcohol and women above our noble course. He isn't fighting for our oppressed brothers nor he is fighting for personal gain and prestige

I'm very dissapointed and I am thinking sever punishment should do the trick, maybe the same punishment as I used with Jona

editer's note: I forgot to take pics from the battle of Damascus I'm sorry about that and I will give you summary about the battle

Battle summary:
as promised here it is the battle summary of Damascus.

I made a ram and 2 siege towers.
i attacked from 3 directions north wall, east and west wall.
i focused my attack on the gate but i attacked the west and east wall with my siege towers each with one battalion of peasants caring the siege equipment and each tower with a battalion of sergeant spearman

the rest of my army was with my ram, the idea of my plan was simple the siege towers would create a diversion whilst my main army would come through the gate, this tactic proved effective in Antioch so i decided to use it again in Damascus with again succes. Thanks to my split up the enemy also divided there army across the settlement

so the gate was only defended with 2 spear militias whilst the 4 other spear militias and 2 desert archers where at the wall with the siege towers

I crushed the gate and my towers stormed the walls. the militias at the gates were easily beaten, so i marched unward to the central plaza and hold it for 3 minutes the battle was mine i lost 236 men and the enemy 654 men but the town was ours

Good job so far.

BTW, I know you said this:

edit: i forgot to mention but if i ever ever insult someone it isn't my intention and it will never will be
But this statement would be wrong:
even god can't do that
Course it's not important to this AAR. Keep up the good work.

Here is a summary of turn 20~30 because I decided that after every 20 turns I will speed up 10 turns so the story doesn't be the same for a long period of time. also I have decided that every 50 turns(I hope I ever come so far) I will you a pic of the world map using the toggle_fow cheat so we all have a nice idea of the world around us and I feel that god(the narrator) as he is god should know what's going on in the world.

summary:
turn 20:
I have won the siege of Acre & Aleppo.
2 large stacks of Egypt appear near Acre and Damascus
army of Aleppo marches on to Edessa(in control of the Seljuks)
turn 21:
the two stacks of egypt attacked Acre and Damascus
I attack Edessa and I'm at war with the Turks(seljuks)
turn 22:
I win the siege at Acre
I lose the siege at Damascus(Damascus is now in Egyptian hands)
Edessa is mine
turn 23:
send the army of Acre to reclaim Damascus
turn 24:
siege Damascus
turn 25:
win siege Damascus
marching with the army of Edessa to Adana
turn 26:
training army at Tortosa, Antioch, Acre
Turn 27:
sending al troops I can spare to Antioch and Damascus
I have now 2 stacks at both locations
turn 28:
siege Adana
turn 29:
win siege Adana
turn 30:
the units have arrived at Damascus
sending the army of Adana and Antioch to the Heartlands of Turkey

next post wil be a post you have been used to: god narrator

Nole: for some reason the peasants of the templar dont suck they have good morale plus the sergeant I uses(5 of them) are very good... i also withdrawed from field battles and used the peasants and pilgrims to carry siege equipment and then pour the sergeants in for great carnage via gate destroyed by ram... i know crappy line but dont know other way to formulate it

for my next AAR I'm thinking about the perspective of a soldier. I read a few AAR with this perspective and I realy liked it any potential???

I hate CTD. They destroy countless lives, and must be stopped.

I haven't played SS before (I want to, still looking for a mod, but IDK if I can get one since I have the retrofit), so you would know better than me what you would be a good choice for an AAR.

hi Confederate I have retrofit mod to and SS works fine I figured why my game crashed my comp was overheatedxD so I destroyed my save files for nothing a still this was a nice experience I enjoyed it The next AAR of mine will be with this mod and I'm thinking about an AAR soldier's perspective with one of the Iberian factions or I'm going to relive the Crusades in the east of Europe with the Teutons still tough choice

and btw I have CTD's to they can really kill the spirit in a game

I haven't had one actually, ever. Weird, since it seems to be the death of so many good campaigns. Espicially in R:TW.

So you have both the retrofit and SS? Can you still play both of them, and can you also still play the original Kingdoms campaigns? These are the deciding factors to whether I should get SS or not.

The next AAR of mine will be with this mod and I'm thinking about an AAR soldier's perspective with one of the Iberian factions or I'm going to relive the Crusades in the east of Europe with the Teutons still tough choice
Hmm....do the Iberian one. But make sure it has pictures of the map. It bugs me so much when people have a great AAR, but I have no clue what they've done map wise. Maybe I'm just picky.

As I learned recently along with SS most good mods are installed in seperate folders to the game itself. So yes you can still play regular campains and in theory others mods can be installed seperatly too. So yo;u could have vanilla SS and oh lets say LTC and you can play each seperatly. and in my experiance SS has been a great mod wdith few bugs.

Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all...
