    Default Mongol issue

    Hey guys,

I'm a huge Mongol fan and I've never played a campaign past turn 20 so I decided to try it for the long haul... but I think there's a serious issue with it. I conquered around 18 territories and have the Kwaz as my vassal by turn 30. I have NO army left and roughly 2-3 units per settlement. That's all... I'm 112k in the red and am losing about 2k per turn! I am at war with no one, I have trade agreements with everyone... did I mention I have no army? What gives? One added item is that I get no tribute from Kwaz... actually, every third turn i LOSE 12k in tribute! What is going on here? I have never used the money script before to cheat out of a situation, but this is literally unplayable.

If you guys want to see screenshots of everything, let me know and I'll throw them up.

Has anyone else finished the mongol campaign in 6.x without any problems?

I believe it's supposed to work out like that, although I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to lose money to your vassals. The idea with Mongols is to blitz as fast as you can in order to get into the green. It's difficult.

I haven't play mongol campaign, but i would recommend make a b-line towards big central european cities, sack them, and keep going. Don't settle every city, but rather loot a lot of them and keep only the important ones.

I had same problem with - 12000 tribute per turn, after i captured 10 settlements i was in -100000 red and it was unplayable. So i started new campaign and for few turns it was OK but after maybe 10 turns -12000 tribute apeared again, i tried to load previous turn and pressed end turn and it didnt apeared. So once upon time when it apears i simply load pevious end of turn and it disapear. Im sure it is not supposed to be this way. I would be thankful if anyone could help to solve this.

I like mongols too and I started a campaign with them. I'm in turn 10, and I conquered all territorys og kwarezm, and 3 territorys from the cumans.
    I have 30000k and I get about 3-4000k/turn.
And I stil have large armys.

You know that's statistically unfeasible, right?

You start out with 5 stacks of armies. How do you conquer the 16 Kwaz regions and 3 Cuman ones in 10 turns. You can't even move that far in 10 turns!

Anyways, It seems like Mongols are unplayable because of this tribute bug. Has anyone actually played the Mongols into turn 30ish and not have the issues the rest of us are having?

    What are you talking about?
My Mongolian campaign was so interesting. Yes, it's not easy but it was completely different than anything else.
Here it is on h/h (no sub mods).

I had to quit too because of the money script bug. I'll post my screens tonight if I can but my financials showed that I should make 10k profit each turn, but I lost 2k each turn instead... with no war, no army, 18 territories and a vassel. How is that even possible.

Got as far as turn 50 in my Mongol campaign - playing on M/M without RR, Byg, but with new Lusted BAI and CAI. Have completed the conquest of former Khwarezmian territory and nearby rebel territories and have Jerusalem and Nicosia.

Money-wise seems OK, with most of my settlements building at the moment and a full-stack army on the go.

(Done by not making Khwarezmians vassals -just go out and destroy them. Takes time and DON'T autoresolve siege battles, you will suffer crushing defeats every time against any well-defended settlement or castle.)

Made a diplomat early on and sent him off to do deals with Cumans and anyone else the council told him to speak to. Have alliances with all other muslim factions and the Pope amongst others

Along the way I've lost most of my original high experience troops and it takes a while before you're in a position to rebuild damaged units. I've generally avoided recruiting too many mercenaries - just the turn before a battle and then dismiss them.

I Use Embi to churn out garrison troops for newly recaptured settlements.

I also recruited quite a few merchants early on who have been left alone so far quietly earning a decent crust every turn.

Future plans include taking the remaining rebel settlements along the south side of the Persian Gulf and then destroying the KoJ. Beyond that I'll aim for the orthodox nations.

Same problem here, I am losing about 12000 florins per turn. I must say that I use v6.1 of SS, difficulty vh/vh, h/h (I restarted campaign for 3-4 times and I realized that it is imposible to finish it with this huge bug and with this difficulty) I added a few submods, like Pagan Mongols Mod for Stainless Steel 6.0, Revised Novgorod Roster. Maybe this is caused by one of these submods, even if I don`t belive that they should affect money scripts.

I really like Mongol Faction, but it can`t be played. I read this thread and I see that there are a few players that managed to play more then 30 turns and even complete succefully this campaigne; it should be very helpfull if they could post here what version are they using, if the installed any submods and what difficulty level is set.
This bug should be fixed, I am sure that, historicaly speaking, mongols were more agressive then in this mod .
Even if they are played by AI I guess they don`t conquer further west of Caspian Sea, they don`t have enough financial resurses.
Another problem is the mix of units, as you see there are no infantry units (except archers) in the begining of the campaign, I know that mongols had a great skill for archery and mounted units, but I don`t think that they conquered a big part of "knowed world" without spearmen or another infantery units (especiality when they besieged cities), that`s why if you try to conquer kwarezm cities and if you autoresolve siege battle there is a big probability to lose it.
Mongol faction is indeed a very interesting one, diserves more atention from the creators of this mod. Thank you!

Just a question, and this may not be the case but...By any chance did the Kwarezm send a diplomat to you with the request "Become Vassal," and instead of agreeing, you hit the counter offer button and noticed that the "Become Vassal" option was still on the scroll and the diplomacy balance was "very generous?" If you then selected to make that offer and the Kwarezm gladly accepted, what you really just did was offer to become their vassal. I actually got confused by this once in a different campaign and came to realize the next turn that they gladly accepted for that reason.

Even though you can't normally offer to become someones vassal (they have to ask you) if you counter offer someone asking you to become their vassal, the vassal offer stays on the scroll and you're simply offering to become a vassal.

    Let me get this straight:

Is this tribute bug unique to the Mongol faction, or is it a bug in general to having a vassal? I've never had one, and never really tried to make one.

It's true that the Mongolian campaign is a headache but there is no bug.
Everything's normal in that campaign and the only thing you need is a different strategy.

Starting with 5 stacks and 125.000 flos you may think that it's going to be like a walk in the park. Wrong! Somewhere around turn 15 your cash will be zero because of two reasons:
    1. Army upkeep.
    2. Location of the capital.

Here's my suggestion (well, it worked for me):
    1. Expand fast and eliminate the Kwarezmian Empire. Don't go to the north. Cuman Khanate is not a good option because of the distances. Leave it for later.
    2. Move your capital to another location. Remember that your capital must be in the middle of your empire. I moved my capital 3 times in my game.
    3. With 5 stacks you can have 5 different targets.
    4. Do not use auto-resolve! Minimize your casualties and be patient.
    5. Use your siege weapons. You're the super power.
    6. If you like to recruit some Elephant gunners, go south to the gulf.
    7. Important: Jihads!!!! You'll save over of 25.000 flos per round if you join a jihad with 5 armies.

Anyway, that was my tactic and I won. Just play the game carefully. Take your time and "read" the map again and again. And finally, give them war!
You don't have to worry about the Mongols, YOU are the Mongols.

    Good luck!

We are thank you for the advices, Babagitta, but most of us allready know these tips, anyway, it doesn`t help us to resolve our issue.
I have a screenshot that might help.

If you look there in the menu, category Diplomacy/Tributes, I have an income of -12000. How is that ? First of all I think that these 12000 should be placed as expediture value, not as an income with negative sign. And what should be the reason of these expenditures?
I noticed that sometimes these -12000 florins don`t appear in Financial Overview (I see just a 0 (zero)), but still losing 12000 per turn.

Oops, that's not normal. I can see that now. But why is that happening?
Is it some kind of penalty or something? Is this the same situation from the beginning?

I'll check my game later and I'll be back. What's the difficulty?

i think your problem is the pirates event

    monitor_conditions I_EventCounter pirates_declined = 1
    and I_CompareCounter had_pirates = 1
    and RandomPercent < 51
    console_command add_money -12000
    set_counter had_pirates 0
    end_monitor

i just deleted that from custom_script.txt because i dont like that and maybe because it is bugged

this fixed the problem for me
