Default Getting back to Medieval II: TW

So...here I am after about a year off of Total War.
I just received a letter telling me that I got a place in the University of Oulu.
I'm about to move to an apartment of my own and parents are supporting me by buying me a good computer.

Propably getting the Kingdoms expansion in a few weeks too.

So...anything happened while I was out of the forums? Does the AI still M2TW act stupid? Can the AI capture a city I defend? What about the crazy "we declare war on you, human"-trend with the AI's? New patch? What's the best mod out there?

    Yeah, lot of questions

EDIT: I'm not "propably getting Kingdoms", I'm SO gonna get it.

Make sure you patch the game. Also, if you want to play the grand campaign I strongly reccomend the Retrofit mods that adds the good changes and fixes from Kingdoms to the main game.

As for a mod I think Lusteds' Lands to Conquer gold is good, but if you want new units and all there are others mods to try.

I've also been away for some time after rejecting the game early on, but with patches and mods this game is actually pretty good. All the Kingdoms campaign are fun so I reccomend starting with those after getting the Kingdoms patch.

    Thanks for reply.
When I've bought the Kingdoms, Do I just have to download one single patch for Kingdoms which has all the previous stuff in there and not download separate stuff?

You need to install the 1.2 patch before Kingoms. Kingdoms will patch to 1.3/1.4. After all that you'll need the 1.5 patch as well to get the latest version.

I am a it of a newbie. I installed the Gold edition. Iwill look abain, but I believe Kingdoms is considered a good patch in its own right to 1.04. Download 1.05 and you are good to go. This may only be valid if you are running the retrofit mod.

Short answer -- both eggthief and Harry may be right

It just depends on whether you wish to run retrofit mod or not.

I think Eggy's right. I've never actually uninstalled Medieval . I was listing what I've done to get to the current version. I remember now the 1.3 patch was just for some multiplayer improvements for people who didn't want to buy Kingdoms.

Yeah I think that I´m right as well, though installing 1.2 trough the kingdoms installer seemed to take more time than with the manual one. Oh and a sidenote, please don't call me eggy, trust me it caused some conflicts not that I expect to get any with u harry, because well u are a moderator and those can ban.

So all I have to do is install medieval 2, then kingdoms, then install 1.5?

Then...maybe SS or some kind of mod.

I installed medieval recently from my 1.0 version (collecters edition), then kingdoms which patched nicely to 1.3.

Then I applied the retrofit mod, and then 1.5 even though I probably didn't need it.

Actually, I'm downloading it now and moving the content to a memory stick so I don't have to wait when I get my brand new computer .

I've been playing LTC a lot back in the day. I moved to the SS bandwagon though because it has a lot more changes in other aspects as well (not only AI and stuff)

Lands to conquer is a good mod, very good AI diplomacy wise. Plus, three new maps with their own win conditions as well as three grandcampaigns with accurate empires.
