Protection Error

i am having real trouble and was wondering if someone could help. i have come to instal the EB 1.1 and everything i try fails. i install just fine but when i click to start a campaign i get a Protection Error messege?

ive installed a clean version of RTW 1.5, im using Vista so im thinking the User Account Control was getting in the way so i changed the directory from program files to the user files, according to the tech help that should have worked. i have also turned off the UAC but still get the error.

ive tried everything. the game works fine without the EB installed but as soon as i do install it, i get the crash as i start a new campaign.

anyone know whats going on?

i dont know i cant read it because the game window is blocking it but the window tab says Protection error.

does any one else use Vista?

I run off of Vista, but installing RTW outside of "Program Files" seems to have solve any Vista problems...

then maybe im putting EB in the wrong place, where did you put it?

i have it in

User/documents/games/Rome - Total War

but i have no shortcut or anything on desktop so im thinking ive put it in the wrong place maybe

There shouldn't be any problem with that location.
v1.1 doesn't install a desktop shortcut, only one in the Start Menu.

You could try uninstalling EB & RTW and reinstalling all of it again, but I don't know if that will help...

Are you trying to run the game as an Administrator under Vista ?

i right clicked on the EB Single Player shortcut and selected run as administrator but still got the error

That protection error message you're getting, is it a disk or Vista error message by any chance ?

vista, the game works fine without EB
