Default Seleucids drowned at commencement of battle

Not sure if it was funny or ridiculous. Playing as Rome I have almost destroyed Macedon (about 227BC). Suddenly Seleucids declare war with 2 half stacks - they use the land bridge from Asia Minor, one besieges Maronia, the other sits nearby on the coast. So I attacked with a 3/4 stack I had encamped between Byzantion and Maronia just in case of such an attack - I deployed my units, and hit 'Start Battle'.

The first thing I see is a cutscene of the captain falling from his chariot and drowning in the sea. I zoom in to the reinforcing Seleucid force, mainly chariots and heavily armoured hyspaspitai (sp?) and watch them drown. Their corpses float sadly in the blue.

Anyway I smashed their main army and it fled........into the sea. More chariots and heavy infantry drowned.

All I can really say is, Seleucids, if that was indicative of your efforts in the long war to come, you'd better start running from the power of Rome - NOW!

heh, I had either a battle with the Ptolemaic or Selecuids where something like this happened. The field was pretty much (I think) the Hellespont at their backs, and mainland Greece at mine. Ended up routing their armies and because I controlled the access to a ground retreat they all fled to the shore. Their entire armies ended up drowning in the Hellespont, seeing a good 1k dead bodies at the bottom of the shore was pretty nice.

Hmmm, I think I've heard of this happening before at almost the same spot.

    I had something similar...

After installing one of the mods, my brother and i were going to play each other, and when the map loaded in, it was an open ocean, and all of our units died... and we had a draw....

Because of that, amphibic military units were invented!
