Hey when you capture an enemy capital (Rone, Syracuse, Carthage, ect.), what is the best thing to do? Keep the treasury, or destroy it? Destroying it gives you a lot of money, but it seems to cause a penalty in public moral.
Thanks.![]()

If you click on the building it should give you a description of the bonus it gives (it's the same screen where you can destroy the building).
I seem to recall the treasury only gives around 5% bonus (I may be wrong). If you have a decent governor handy that shouldn't be a great loss.

Well for the Roman one it is a +40% for happyness, but -40% for law. For the Syracuse one it is +30% for happiness, -40% for law. Destroying the Roman one gives 10,000. Destroying the Syracua one gives 5,000. I say this from a Carthage perspective, since it is the one I ma playing currently.
I usually destroy all those that give a law penalty. Lower law means higher corruption, and thus less money in the long run. I keep the others, though, some extra happiness be quite usefull, and you can still destroy them later if you need to.
Treasury can sometimes be useful as a cash injection if you really need it for a final push against the enemy.

Yep, i agree with MarcusTullius. The treasury is a handy little piggy bank for when you find yourself short on funds.
So I guess I should keep them until I start to run low on cash?
I could collect them all!![]()

I'm saying keep 'em until you need 'em or until your public happiness can take the dent that comes with destroying them.
Ok. Thanks guys.
Like monopoly! This is gonna be fun.
The Seleucid treasury that I found in Babylon has no drawbacks, just adds 40% public order or happiness I can't remember which.
Usually though if you have invaded and taken the enemy's capital then money isn't an issue anyway so the 10k or so the treasury gives isn't all that useful. Well at least in all my campaigns I sit on 300k+ by the time I create an invasion force.

Its very easy to get rid of money.Just queue up the most expensive buildings. And if you need the money back remove them from queue.

I havn't had a problem with too much money before, my goveners seem to be doing a good job in the cities still.
There is a problem in stacking buildings in the building browser because I do that already hehe

Or just build huge amounts of soldiers.![]()
I haven't played as Romans yet, so no money overflowing.Sometimes though I get some extra cash that somehow just dissapears next turn....... :hmmm:
On my Carthage file I own almost all of Italy, and I get about 37,000 a turn. And whatever extra money I have after I build buildings I use to buy troops if I need too or mercs, and since I need to prepare for the Free People, Spain, and Epiros, I'm spending a lot of money.
