From the way I've heard it, a Russian faction implemented into BC will be based out of Kiev.
Is this so?
(Would personally prefer the Principality of Chernigov over another Kiev-based Russian faction. The thread author tried to play SS.)

Victory is gained not by the number killed but by the number frightened.
Couldn't you have used the Rus thread?
And the BC team is concentrating on 1.5, and what they have said suggests there will be a " Russian Principilaties " faction or something.
Who cares if we don't learn from History, its bloodly interesting.

Guh. Sorry.
I suppose my question was more of a naming thing.
Pretty sure I already asked it at least once, or something very similar.
It'd still be cool to have a Russian faction not based out of Kiev or Novgorod, though. Or Moscow, for that matter.
Specifically, the Grand Principality of Chernigov often warred with and occasionaly siezed control of Kiev, and was the largest geographically of the Russian states. I think they at one point pushed as far as Tmutarakan.

Letīs give "Russian Principilaties" a try if you donīt take Kiev.
Of course, this could be seen as "ahistoric" by the fact Russia wasnīt "united" till 1574, but anything else would cause long fights on how to name the "Russian faction".

I would personally prefer the faction be named "The Rus' Principalities" and instead of representing Kiev, it should represent the the rising Vladmir-Suzdal principality that was more prominent at 1174.
It could be more exciting since capturing Kiev could become a key faction objective and a point of contention between the Rus, Romans and perhaps even a minor Bulgarian faction.
My motivation for this is that, by 1174 the Kievan Rus' were not really politically or militarily influential like they used to be.

So youīre talking of a "re-establishing of old power" like for the Romans, Miraj?
Good idea, I presume.
And, now I think of it, "Rus" seems alot better then "Russian" for the cause that in Russian language "Rus" includes ALL territories of the old Principalities while "Russian" wasnīt really existing back then.

I think there were some posts on another topic about "fanboyized" factions, and I remember thinking:
"Gee, I don't know, which faction has like every freakin' signifigant leader of theirs have the portrait of an actor from a movie?"
Oh, I know!
It's Jerusalem!
Back kinda-sorta on topic, I read the Wiki about Vladmir-Suzdal.
I'd still prefer Chernigov, but...
Nice choice, methinks. Did they have anything as far as army comp goes that differed them from the other Rus states?
