Default Installing a second copy to a different directory?

I have the M2TW/Kingdoms 2-dvd set. I have the game currently installed in the default directory of /program files/sega/medieval ii total war/...

I would like to install a second copy of the game in a different directory to avoid overlapping mod issues.

The main disk installer does not give an option to install the game to a different drive or directory, it only asks me if I would like to remove all currently installed components. Obviously this isn't what I want to do. Is there a way to direct the setup installer to a new directory? Help if you can!

Ok this is how i did it with WW2 fighters. OBVIOUSLY this is a different game so i don't know if it will work. The reason why when you when you put the CD in the drive and it comes up with the option to play its detecting the game installed in the default directory, so i copied the game in a new Folder in my Documents. With that game (#2) you will need to go in the folder and manually start the game.
Then put in your disk and install the game normally as it wont detect the game already installed, the desktop shortcut should work for this game (#1)
I installed two versions of that game for the same reason you want to, to play different mods, Worked like a charm for me
it definetely worked for WW2 Fighters i have havnt tried it with this one

    Argh!

Copying the DVDs to a folder gives me this error:

All Medieval II Total War: Gold products are already installed. Aborting installation.

    Different error message.

    Are we on to something?

I also tried burning the DVD and trying to install from an image, but that doesn't work either.

Dont copy the files from the CD sorry. CUT the files form the already installed game into a new folder. Then install as normal and you should have two games....
One will be the moved game from the proper location (Program files/SEGA/Medieval 2 total war) to your new folder. And the other should be the newly installed game to the proper location where the other used to be i.e Program files/SEGA/Medieval 2 total war.
Hope thats helps . Like i said, im not sure it will work for this game but i did it for another game i had

The easiest way is to use the mouseover to highlight Medieval II Total War. While it's highlighted click on edit/copy to folder, click on sega, click yes and go get ourself a cold one.

What exactly you want to do with that? To have a backup of the game or to play by the new directory? If you want the second option the only solution is by a program.
