EB stops responding right away

I've been looking forward to playing this mod for months, I hope you guys can help me get it working.

When I open eb single player.exe, the red Rome TW splash screen comes up, then the brown EB screen appears. This is where the game just stops responding. I have to crtl alt delete and close EB.

To fix the problem I have completely uninstalled, then reinstalled rome and EB four different times. I have the version that comes with 3 CDs. I patch to 1.3, then 1.5, then install EB. I've even deleted EB and re-downloaded it from the torrent each time, as every time i do the install validation program I get errors. I have also installed every 1.1 fix.

Oh yeah, I also tried using 7-zip to manually extract EB, but 7-zip won't work on it. When I try, 7-zip says "cannot open eb1.1.exe as an archive."

Somebody please help me out here.. I can only entertain myself by reading the faction history and unit descriptions for so long. :>

This might be related. When I open the preferences config and hit apply, I get the message: "can't open file "EB/Preferencees/preferences.txt" error2 the system cannot find the file specified. " four times.

I tried going to the folder and creating preferences.txt myself, and adding the info I saw in another thread, but that doesn't stop the error.

EB takes a while to load. Most likely you simply need to wait a while longer and it will work.

I can't believe that worked. Thanks for the suggestion, maybe I should be a little more patient.

Wow, that cause you to wait for months before able to play EB, instead of waiting minutes of the loading screen.
