    Default Crusade on Marienburg!

Hey guys, my current campaign as the Teutonic Order has taken a sudden turn for the worse at turn 97.. I've been at war with Denmark and Poland on and off and had a ceasefire with Denmark, but then they attacked me again at Kalmar. Anyway, this time I had enough and decided to go on an all out attack against the Danes taking Lund, Oslo and Stettin. As a result I got excommunicated. Meanwhile Poland was still at war with me, I took Danzig and Poznan from them. Anyway now I have a Crusade on my head for being to aggressive. And the Papal States were the first to join!

    Next turn..

I have already defeated the first crusading army sent from Hungary. But this is just the start of my defense of Marienburg. I have 3 full stacks guarding the bridges but I dont know how long I will hold out lol. I do not intend to surrender Marienburg to end the crusade. I will try to defend it to last, just like the AI never gives up. I probably wont survive but it will be fun trying

Thanks for the tip Asmodeus, I might just send an assassin to Rome if it gets to hard! Just had an amazing slice of luck when the Pope excommunicated Denmark! They had a full stack approaching Marienburg but are no longer part of the Crusade, so their army just disbanded Here is the latest situation below.

Russia has just decided the time is right to strike and have Riga under siege with two stacks.

P.S. Has anyone ever survived a Crusade without losing the settlement that was the target of the Crusade? Am I fighting a lost cause do you think?

Well, whilst I did manage to hold out at Marienburg for about 20 turns before I had to start a new campaign due to making more changes. The Crusade on Marienburg did keep up a tremendous amount of pressure on me. I was unable to defend my border settlements well enough. From the attacks of Denmark, Poland and Russia.

Oh and the Papal States were by far the toughest crusaders to beat with their very strong Papal Guard and Swiss Pikemen units.

I've survived a Crusade with Sicily....they kept coming and breaking like water on the walls....I did however end up losing 2 other small provinces....but at least not my capital to the Crusading armies.....I finally was reconciled once the pope was killed outside my capital by one of my reinforcement armies I had to help with the defense

I have to deal with pope one time in your first version end he end up may be with a blade in his throat(not sure how my assassin did it) may be this is the best way to get rid of a Crusade

But what to do when muslims are mad on you and they're keep coming to capture Constantinople? (I'm playing as Byzantine and I have jihad on my head)

Jihads are not that bad compared to having a crusade called on your capital. And the Moors come from very far to reach Constantinople. So the main threat is from the Turks and Egypt.

However most factions in the grand campaign are involved in crusades. And defeating a crusading army takes your relationships down with everyone. As happened to me see this screenshot below. I am now at war with most of them also.

I'm sorry for you Dave, you must have a lot of trouble. I guess my problem with only 3 muslim factions is nothing comparing to your problem You must hold on, you must survive!

Sadly being a modder means its very hard for me to continue campaigns for very long before I want to change something more. I've just started working on a few new changes in the EDU and EDB. So I wont be able to load this campaign and continue with it further. However I am very happy I managed to play a Teutonic campaign +100 turns Overall I was pretty pleased with how it played out. At my height of power before the Crusade on Marienburg I had only 13 regions under my control. So I'm pretty satisfied that the Teutonic campaign presents a good challenge. I did notice a few small things I could improve though. I went a bit over board with the new svenner unit for Denmark. And have changed it so the AI doesn't like to recruit them as much now, and recruits Huscarls a lot more instead.
