Default Is it possible to change cities (I'll explain) - and changing troop speeds - sheild wall?

Could I make my city and castle trees like this?:

    Village
    Castle
    Fortress
    Citadel

    Village
    Town
    Large town
    Minor City

    ?
It would require skipping Moat and bailly and stopping cities at minor city. It's a simple text edit right? (by skipping I mean removing it from the game) (sorry if it's a dumb question, but I keep on getting errors when I unpack the game and I just reinstalled it )

Question #2: Can I edit the walk speed of a unit to slow it down? I was thinking of making a *Niginata style unit. At spearwall walking formation speed. Is this possible?

*In Shogun total warrior the Niginata unit wore insane amounts of armor were unmatched in close up melee. As well as usually taking 3 times less damage from Archer units. The trade off of course is that they walked so slow that it took them ages to move forward and attempt protect a ally unit from a charge etc. I suppose in M2 a unit like this would take more damage from artillery as well.

+ I could always throw in a really heavily armored archer unit that moves really slow and uses a spear as secondary weapon ...... not a unit another archer unit wants to trade volleys with and not a unit light cavalry wants to rush ..... variety baby yeah!

Anyway can we play with the walk speeds as well?

    Question 3:
One last question - Can units be given testudo or sheild wall? I see that it is hard wired in the game but is it just remnits from Rome? I could get any units to make Testudo work

    I'll take this one first...

I believe that testudo has been removed, but I am certain that shield wall works. You just need to add it (shield_wall) to the proper line in the export_descr_units file. The only problem that I have found is that if the unit is a spear unit, the spears sometimes penetrate the shields in the row in front of them.

I have never done anything like this before, but it seems like it would be possible by modifying the export_descr_buildings file to your taste.

I believe, but I am not certain, that you can edit these values in the export_descr_unit file.

Evil is bad sold as good, wrong sold as right, injustice sold as justice. Like the coat of a virus, a thin veil of right can disguise enormous wrong and confer an ability to infect others."

you cannot modify levels of settlements. it's hadcoded. You only can modify walls tree as sad LC

you only can modify units speed on strategic map. On battlefield it is impossible.

how is the units battlefield speed determined then? because I see most Native American units running almost as fast as cavalry and units like dismounted feudal knights moving pretty slowly in comparison. Is it determined by a units armour level or by some formula instead of a direct value?

Awww nuts on the troop movement speed. I suppose that includes mounted units too right?

I could take stuff out to limit the growth of cities and make some castle upgrades free and one turn I suppose (to skip moat and baile and wooden castle make them free and one turn, give them no buildings)

Could I change the population requirements for castle upgrade?

    Do you have Kingdoms installed?

There's a new unit attribute in Kingdoms that you can use to increase or decrease movement speed of individual units.
Grand Campaign: Extended - Adding Kingdoms content to the Grand Campaign.

If you modify the wall tree's in the EDB then be sure to make the appropriate changes in the building enums file for each culture.

You will also need to take out the various lines related to such wall upgrades throughout the EDB. Such as certain tier's of buildings requiring huge stone walls etc. (buidings like a gothic armouror will need to be modified to be possible to build them at your new wall upgrade settings - Cathedrals, Admiralirties, Armoury etc to name a few)
...longbows, in skilled hands, could reach further than trebuchets...
