Mercenaries

I like the system of mercenaries, and the unit types available (They make for what I would call a realistic state of affairs)

But I have noticed some areas don't ever have them available. I'm in a Polish campaign right now, and my territories and those right about them do not appear to ever have mercenaries available outside the use of Inn buildings.

Also, I am supposing that with the next version (which covers a different period, correct?) other forms of mercenaries will become available, Flemish and Swiss pikes, Genoese Crossbows, etcetera.

Version 1.0 will offer 2 campaigns. one starts as usual at 1072 and the other at 1099 (as Jerusalem was captured by the crusaders).

Flemish mercs are already included, and the next build will have professional and strong Italian Crossbowmen as mercs, and a few other new mercs, but there won't be Swiss pikemen.

Well, a next release is a version 0.98, with the updated 1072 campaign, and this contains already the most new contents (out perhaps in 4 weeks, depends on different things).

One new faction Seljuks of Rum (Anatolia), current Seljuks renamed to Grand Seljuk Empire with new faction/unit colour and flag/banners for battle and strat mode; Zirid Berbers mentioned as Imazighen; Moors mentioned as Almoravid Caliphate; and in the whole a bunch of new and/or reskinned units for all Muslim factions, so the answer is in any case yes

No, the map style of Chivalry is kept, there won't be changes in that area, it is one part of the unique trademark, and for example it underlines the early/high medieval atmosphere, imo.

Wow. and I thought this mod was dead in terms of development. You mentioned in my thread about the Byzantines that recruitment will be revamped for many factions. Will this be implemented because if so, I will definitely redownload this and start up a Byzantine campaign.

a lot of new stuff is included. You will love it!

New units, overhauled older units, revised starting positions on the strat-map and a lot of other things. Do you saw our preview?

But our highest intension was always to keep the Chivalry design and the style. As DaVinci said, the atmosphere is great.

That is certainly true. The one TW medieval game (mods or MTWII) that even gets to the point of being as good as MTWI atmosphere wise. The music is excellent.

Oh, certainly. And though there are certain things that MTWI still has that you guys can't add (like captains and such with traits, titles, etcetera) I'd say you've taken this as far as it can go in that direction, and have done a terrific job.

Even if my Crusades are futile due to public feelings :p
