Default Spawn armies when besieged (like BC)

In Broken Crescent when a valuable city is besieged (say, Cairo) a large number of usually heavy duty troops appear inside. I was thinking about the many powers of the Third Age who seem to do nothing until threatened (Elrond, Galadriel, the Ents, Cirdan) and I thought you could implement this into those factions when not player-controlled.

For example, Galadriel's unit only spawns in Lothlorien when it is besieged by an enemy force, like in the War of the Ring. (After this, Galadriel crossed the River to destroy Dol Guldur.) This would also make it harder to take enemy cities such as the Grey Havens while stopping stupid things happening like Elrond's bodyguard attacking you with only himself vs. your whole army in Mordor.

Will Fangorn be a city? If so you can give it a massive spawn of Ents when besieged.

Other ideas for characters who spawn like this might be Dain, Sauron himself (if you're crazy), other Elven lords, the Balrog etc.

This seems like a good idea to me...

    Game of the Fates
Mod of the week on hold -- I've played nearly every RTW mod out there.
BOYCOTT THE USE OF SMILEYS! (Okay, just once)
Antiochos VII...last true scion of the Seleucid dynasty...rest in peace, son of Hellas.
I've returned--please forgive my long absence.

ya I'm also a big fan of BC

the idea is a good one, of course we would need to tweak it for this mod, but it could provide some interesting features.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I like the idea, I have never played BC actually, but that is a great idea and could be a good asset to this mod. Though as Code_Knight said, it would need to be tweak/adjusted to fit this mod.

I deffinatelly think this sort of garrisson script would be great, but militias seem more realistic. Figured I'd add my advice for once

you could probably create a script that conscripts last-minute soldiers into your city
but also, the quality of the soldiers should depend on the military production capabilities of the city itself

true, but none the less, the units still shouldn't be all that great when they are last minute.

I think that makes more sense. Like the peasant militias at Helm's Deep.

Exactly, peasant militias is what it should be (with some exceptions, like Minas Tirith, for example).

Good Point, Agreed. Big, powerful cities will have more powerful spawning units.

Ah, you mean like a garrison script?

Hey all, not to be a buzzkill, but I would just like to point out that the more scripting, the slower this games gonna run. Dont get me wrong, I cant wait to play this mod, but for every extra you get theres gonna be a price to pay.

Now I know what your probably thinking...so what i dont mind waiting longer between turns for this great mod. So be it, but I would warn you that you WILL be waiting, and game speed is a playability issue with many players. If you dont believe it, go to many of the other popular mods and read the threads there.

Once again, i dont wanna be a "downer", but now is the time to let the modders know if game speed is an issue or not. while its in development. If not...so be it. I just dont want these modders working so hard and then reading "Good lord...the turn time". And to be honest, I highly doubt Im playing any mod that goes over 45 secs to 60 secs between turns right at the start. Thats just me tho...

Thanx for taking up this project guys/gals...so far looks awesome.

Europa barbarorum took about 10 minutes at my old computer, so i am used to it. About spawning garrisons: i think it is a very good idea, it would take even more armies to conquer a major city, and its makes the game harder.

Does your computer barely meet the game's requirements? I have never experienced a slow game.

Tower Guards and other Gondorian soldiers were basically just militia, and they were heaps better than the crap they got from outside the walls.

Besides the "coolness" factor of this, there is also the fact that sometimes (read: all the time) the enemy feels fit to leave their important cities and castles completely un-garrisoned. I can't count how many cities in the Rome version of this that I took from Rohan because they had 1-4 units in their cities.

Limiting it to important cities is good enough for me .
