Whenever I try to play a battle on either Medieval II or Kingdoms, the game crashes and I get "Medieval II encountered an unspecified error and will now exit"!

That happened to me when I first got the game.
The only thing I can say is get the last 6 lines of the system log and post it in Tech Help and try and download the latest drivers for your Graphics Card.
Thats all I know

It is in the data files.
Luckily I didnt have to do that I just downloaded teh latest drivers for my graphic card.
I have read about checking the last few lines so I acctualy don't have any experince about looking into files.
Its in the medieval folder though.

If it is in the text files, it will show up in the system.log.txt. If it's graphics, including video drivers, graphics files, all you're going to get is a ctd (crash to desktop). If it happens in a mod and not in vanilla, then it is a mod problem and contact them for specific issues. Posting here will only get it lost.
It happens in Vanilla of both Medieval II and Kingdoms. How do I find this "system.log.txt"?
In the vanilla game the txt exist in the Medieval II Total War/Logs folder but if the mod say you can find in the Medieval II Total War folder. You need only the last five lines.
In your preferences.txt add (if you don't have) these lines:
[log]
to = logs/system.log.txt
level = * trace
level = * error
These lines tell the errors with the best analysis. If you don't have any error, then probably the error is in something hardcoded.In this case your mod installation or a change who you make has problem. Reinstall the mod or check the changes who you make. If the vanilla has problem also, then maybe your pc has problem.

Only when you enter in batlles? If so maybe some grafics of units are missing.

You must find what unit grafics are missing. Maybe the logs.txt Say something. Make the changes as described, and check.
Tell me something. In all the battles have the same problem. If something that happens check if you have the
data\descr_geography_new.txt
data\descr_geography_new.db
If you have these delete them and check again.

Thanks for all your help.I am just dumbfounded by this problem it never happened before until just recently. I even Reinstalled both of my MTW 2 and Kingdoms from scratch and nothing.I download a mod and as soon as i am about to enter battle it just crashes to my desktop with a Unspecified error msg.Again thanks a million![]()

Did you read the sticky thread at the top of this forum on Total war and Vista?

MTW and vista is a bad combination. But try if you can play battles in vanilla. If you dont can play then the problem is something with vista. If you dont then reinstall the mod who you play or check the changes you made in battle_models.modeldb.
