This Video made me wonder why the mongols were so feared.

Today's Mongols are quite friendly in comparison. Now that there's laws (wonder how you can enforce them for 2 million people on harsh arid steppe twice the size of Texas) there's little need for cutthroat behavior. There's just no real Mongol warriors anymore.

For that matter, just watching Mongol warriors riding with bows and swords doesn't intimidate by itself. They're humans like anyone else. It's what they DO and LEAVE BEHIND that intimidate. Vanilla MTW seemed to have tried to duplicate the dread factor by giving them laminate black armor.

Go back then... no laws... you eat what you kill... you take whatever you can steal... a very different place. Of course, with a measure of the guest-host hospitality you witness among many nomads living a harsh existence.
