Is there a possibility to see the whole campaign map all the time? I would like to see, what all the other factions are doing. I can imagine there is another thread with the exact same question, but I can't find it.

Open the console while in the campaign map (~) and type in toggle_fow.
Just make sure you're not following the AI movements....![]()
Does it slow down everything? I mean without following AI movement![]()
you could always just type it in, have a look around, type it in again, and the FOW will be back to the way it was before...

I totally agree with that sentiment. One should be able to see automatically who owns what territories.
I think there is also an argument for showing more on the strategy screen without having to disable fow. News travelled very efficiently in ancient times by a multitude of couriers and messengers, normal folk shouting from hill to hill etc....One would know well in advance where all the large armies were and should not necessarily be hidden from sight. I think it would be more appropriate to show that a stack is present though harder to find out details. So you would still need to send a spy to gain the nitty-gritty.
then ambushes would be useless.
theres historical accuracy and then there is gameplay.
While it's true you would generally know, even back then, roughly where a large army was, it's not true you would necessary know specifically where it was. Hannibal kept Rome guessing at his exact location for more than a decade, constantly slipping away from multiple Roman armies. So the fact that armies can be hidden in the game is really a crucial element I think. It forces you to use your spies effectively. And it's even more important on a large scale map like the RS map, since there's so much ground to cover.
