    Default favorite speeches?

as a fan of almost every sword based war film ever made (so what if braveheart and 300 are very innacurate, they are badass!) i have become very fond of all the generals speeches at the beginning of battles. what were some favorite/memorable medieval speeches of yours? i loved reynalds speeches in the crusades campaign.. you couldnt even understand what he said other then BLOOOOOD!! i also had an english general in one of my ss campaigns who had the foul language trait. i would look forward to every battle with him just to hear all the constant cussing. it even sounded like he was making words up at parts of his speeches

haha yah I always add the "lude" trait to my generals for their funny speeches, I like the ones where it specifically insults a specific faction. The only specific one that pops to the top of my head is when as the venetians I was fighting the milanese and my guy said something like "the milanese are known as successful bankers and merchants, maybe that explains why their soldiers are dressed like spoiled sissies" or sumthing like that

Sounds like someone dusted off their copy of the Shakespearean Insult Kit:

I'd love to see someone put the Best Pre-battle Speech Ever in the game. I of course refer to the St. Crispin Day speech in Henry V!

Retinue also influences speeces, I had an egyptian general with the "sword of muhammad" ancillary, in EVERY battle I fought with him he said something like this: "Beware, enemies, for when the situation needed it the prophet also was a warrior!" the most pointless speech ever.

The funniest I had was with HRE fighting an english army: "Look, an army! Maybe an english army? Who else would go to war with such men?!"

Some of the speeches in M2TW are nice, but they're nothing compared to Roman speeches in RTW! Ah those were the days....

What trait causes the snake reference?

The one that made me laugh loudest was an English general talking about how ugly his wife is, and how she is "probably fighting alongside that lot over there".

    *drunken voice*

Have you met my wife? Bloody ugly woman! Shes probably fighting with that lot over there, and we're buggered if shes fighting us.

    THat one?

Got to love it too, I think its down to the drunken trait, as my generals wife happened to be extremely attractive. Just shows drink can make you say anything.

I love the other one posted, about the sheep bothering gits, although strangely my favourite is when he mentiones "and try to follow orders this time lads, there is a point to all the shouting you know. I don't just do it because I like the sound of my own voice!" Just reminds me of my sergeant major on re-enactment.
