One of the unorthodox strategies i like to use and am currently using now, is massing wardogs.
Pro's:
1. they are cheap
2. they are like peasants but stronger
3. they move faster than avg infantry
4. dead dogs dont count as casulties, and if u still have the same number of handlers remaining, then all of the dogs that have died will be replenished
Con's:
1. once u release them on the enemy, ur not gonna be able to control them
2. if they run off the battlefield u dont get them back
3. if they make up 3/4 of ur army, ur so boned
This strategy works well against infantry, particularly the rear and flanks of slower moving hoplites. they even work well against horsemen.
They swarm around a single man and kill it, like the ants in indiana jones...
do not send release them upon chariots... for they will only be ran over.
